TopCashBack 'Tell-A-Friend' Policy? Poor to me!

Guys I am really annoyed at TopCashBack. They offer a tell-a-friend option to refer people to use their service. Are any of you aware or think fair that if the 'friend' does not sign up using the link you provide them immediately you don't get the benefit of that person signing up, even when they use the same email?
I spent an age getting my mum, colleague and friend to join and sent the link. Obviously not everyone uses the link the moment you send it. However, TCB then email the person you have introduced to them using the email you send the refer link to so that IF the person uses the TCB link 'they' supersede yours with, you are no longer entitled to that referral value.
Further to this, the timing of your referral which states 'tell a friend and get £xx isn't the rate of the time that you send the link its the rate on the day they sign up, whenever that is.
All this to me is misleading and disingenuous to anyone spending time and making an effort to convince sometimes sceptical people to join these sorts of services!
Anyone else had similar issues.
I have now had to submit around 1 in 4 claims for referrals and missing cashback due to tracking not working (3 out of 4 friends didnt track and trigger a fee). Someone needs to overhaul this industry and make it do exactly what it suggests its meant to do - give you cashback!

Thats why it is called a referral link - if they dont use it they dont know you referred them
maybe you should be angry at your family and friends who dont know how to use a simple link rather than topcashback and maybe yourself for not reading the T&Cs??Dont rock the boat

I have to agree, topcashback would have no way of knowing who referred them if a referral link hadnt been used.
As with all cashback, the t&c's need going through with a fine toothcomb and are never guarenteed.
I have successfully referred people to topcashback and have always been paid once the person I have referred has spent the correct amount.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. They didn't have the person to contact before I sent them the referral link and I, nor the person I referred gave them the right to contact them. TCB contacted MY contact in order to nullify my referral. My friends and family took the reminder as a stem from my referral, and why wouldn't they, they had no contact from TCB before I introduced them.0

You sent them a referral link and they didnt take up the offer.
Topcashback then got in touch with them because they would have the info from your account.
Your family then signed up via topcashbacks email and not your referral link.
As previously stated, if they didnt sign up via your original link then topcashback would have no way of knowing that you referred them, it would just go down as a sign up via a topcashback email which is correct.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. What do you mean they would not know. IF they didn't have the email before I used it, then its due to me offering up that email, and by the laws of DPA they have to prove the origin of any data they keep (Its me contacting my mum as far as she is concerned) She does not wish to hear from them further but given no option and otherwise receives unsolicited emails which she believes would be me prompting her after the initial link. Of course they would know if someone signed up as you can set up tracking using the email to associate the email from the supplied email I had referred, that's basic system management.
At the very least the reminder should have stated' the person who invited you' is checking to see if you still want to join TCB blah blah. They are sending these emails within days of my referral, its natural to wait, you look into these things before you sign up and someone who is not aware of the t'c n c's (and there is nothing in there about this btw) would not know what the protocol is for this site. My 4 friends ALL say they feel duped by the email sent by TCB, so if that's what TCB wanted to achieve then well done them as that is EXACTLY what it has done.0 -
It clearly states in the t&c's that your unique link must be used to sign up so there is no point in arguing to be fair.
Terms & Conditions
Your current Tell-a-Friend bonus is £15
For the referral to be successful, your friend must click on your unique Tell-a-Friend link and sign up to the site on that click-through.
For the Tell-a-Friend bonus to be applied to your account, your friend must authenticate their TopCashback account and reach a minimum cashback threshold of £10 cashback.
Your bonus will become Payable when your friend has a minimum of £10 cashback at Payable status.
Only referral bonuses for genuine sign-ups will be paid. We will not pay the bonus for any referrals where the new account has been terminated. Multiple accounts created for use by the same person or any fraudulent signups may result in termination of your account and all accounts which we deem to be linked.
The criteria used to determine referral thresholds may be adjusted at any time.
Any invites sent via our 'email and share' submission form must only be sent to people you know.
Your referral link should not be used in search engine sponsored listings (e.g. Google Adwords) or any other paid advertising without the prior permission of TopCashback.
Members who falsely impersonate TopCashback within https://www.topcashback.co.uk or external sites to gain clicks on their referral link will not be paid referral bonuses and risk the termination of their TopCashback account. This includes but is not limited to; impersonation of TopCashback or pretending to be a representative of TopCashback and making false claims relating to any rewards that may come as a result of signing up to the site.
The referral bonus amount may increase or decrease at any time. When the referral bonus amount has changed, you will be eligible to receive the amount that was advertised on the site at the time your friend signed up from your link, which may be different to the amount offered when you sent the link to your friend or when the bonus was applied to your account.
Some transactions will not count towards your friend’s referral threshold, including sign-up bonuses and any cashback awarded from the list of merchants below. This list is subject to change at any time.

Its about conduct. I for one would not gazzump a customer who had merely a few days earlier spent time to get them on board by using an email I had no right to use. Do you not agree that's poor practice even if a clever move to dupe the new contact into NOT using my link. It's not an argument, they have lost the faith of all the users I put forward - and they are not being fed this by me, its just poor.
and for the record 'For the referral to be successful, your friend must click on your unique Tell-a-Friend link and sign up to the site on that click-through' isn't something the recipient see's so they don't know that the person they believe in good faith is offering the new service is being hijacked by a subsequent email.
Its clumsy and I am glad I don't run my business referral schemes this way as I like to think my customers are doing the work and my business a favour.
Thanks for the views though, there is some balance here.0 -

I find its like all cashback sites unfortunately, sometimes they are great and sometimes you bang your head against a wall to get cashback.
I dont think they are doing anything wrong to be honest although I do agree that maybe the person referred should get an email saying that they must use the referrers link only to both benefit.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I could understand if it had been a few weeks/months, but its not been days when they send their own email! Also the tracking has been happening. I have to get each person to contact them and raise a ticket just to get the accounts connected.
As a business manager I would be looking at the logic as to why I want to gain new users, and encourage positive feedback process, this however has me and 4 other all thinking the site at best is not being fair. although to their credit they are gradually getting through the issues I have posed and are linking the referrers to my account - slow, long and not worth the money but as a matter of principle I'll see it through.
I wonder if they are even allowed to use that email address as as far as I am concerned I am the person supplying it and not for 'their use' to target my friends and family.0 -
To be honest after your first couple of replies you fail to have grasped the real issue here and I dont think anyone else telling you the same thing over and over is ever going to be heard either.
chalk it up and move on. Or steal £7.50 out of your mams purse in revengeDont rock the boat
