Yes, do it frequently
but they are provided by my butcher who skins and guts them first. I'd have a go at preparing one myself, but like cleaning the bathroom I'd rather someone else did it for me. 0 -
Absolutely. Not had rabbit for ages (actually last time I had it was frozen cubes from Tesco - don't think they do them anymore, which is a shame as they were alright and dead cheap), but had plenty when I was younger.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

I would want to see it complete, as it were, so that I could see it was healthy when shot and not a sick bunny who just couldn't run fast enough!
Then, yes I would. My mum was a bus conductress back in the 50's and 60's. We lived in a country area and the bus often 'ran over' things at night. They would stop the bus and go and see if it was edible, if it was it came home.

we get them from a friend who goes out with dogs and ferrets so they are not usually shot. she prepares mine for me as i'm not keen on doing them.the ones she sends for my dad she leaves their jackets on as he doesn't mind sorting them out.Lead us not into temptation...
just tell us where it is and we'll find it....0 -
The reason I ask, is because my DH brought home 2 this evening and put them in the fridge. I know it is hypocritical, (not being a veggie) but they are all squashy and furry. And having kept the pet rabbit alive at great expense I can't bring myself to have anything to do with these rabbits. I don't want to see them , touch them, and def not eat them. It makes me feel all squirmy. I did prepare and eat the pheasants and the Zander, but I think it is the fact of having a pet rabbit puts me off.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I used to think I could never eat rabbit, but after seeing the terrible conditions that chickens live in, I would now much rather eat a cute bunny rabbit which had lead a happy life until it's death.Proud to be a moneysaver! :cool:0

If you do decide to eat it, the River Cottage website has a recipie for "Bunny Burgers" which I saw him make on the programme and looked really nice.

Thanks, I have printed off that recipie and given it to the OH. I suppose I might eat it in that form. Totally unrecognizable, especially if I don't have to see them again before they are burgers.art_student wrote: »If you do decide to eat it, the River Cottage website has a recipie for "Bunny Burgers" which I saw him make on the programme and looked really nice.

Even when I ate meat, I couldn't abide the taste of rabbit; it had a funny tang to it which turned my stomach.0
