Thanks for stopping in Laura. They goals are manageable, its down to me.

Shopping trip with DS was fairly successful/expensive. We found him a bike. Hadnt really set a budget, as long as it was a decent quality bike, to encourage him to ride more. I am going to be honest, i was a bit shaken when he went straight to a £700 bmx. Luckily, he told me he doesnt like bmxs "they are for posers" apparently. He ended up going for a nice mountain bike, at a not unreasonable £250. It will be ordered online for tcb. On to trafford centre next, and pandora didnt work out so well. A charm for DH, from DS, and a new clip from me. John lewis was a new organiser for DH, and hotel chocolate for posh chocs for DH. We agree a budget for each other this year, and i already blew it. She hasnt actually given me her list yet. haha. Oh well. Shes worth every penny tbh.

So, for today. Quiet one planned. Im feeling rather nauseous at the moment. There is all sorts of bugs going around DSs school, so im sure he will have brought something home and passed it one.
Order new bike for DS. Ev4ns cycles have some good offers atm, with tcb paying 4% as well. They are offering a £50 voucher to spend in store if you spend £250 or more. DSs bike is.......wait for it........£250. Yay. That will go towards a new helmet and some other items he will need. The TCB will be off that CC.
Catch up on some TV shows. The flash, and agents of shield i think. Man TV.
Already finished a SB survey for 70Sb.
A few chores, and thats me done.

  • Hi Ste,

How is the toilet/gable end doing a few days on :rotfl:
DH is of a similar mind set re DIY (he's not the best at it) if it seems to easy to fix, it's likely to go wrong shortly after :D

Your plans sound v sensible - we are trying to follow the same vein - 'balance' ...... DH is on board with the MF journey to an extent but doesn't want to stop living and enjoying life..... Whilst I could happily (for the most part) go to the extreme - so we have some interesting debates when buying a 'want' item about where to draw the 'balance line' :A

Good news on the bike! DH is an avid road and mountain bike rider and finds Evans and one of our local shops to be his favourite!

    Hi JHH

Weird thing indeed has happened. Both the wall and the toilet are in good working order. It makes me nervous. Im actually a pretty decent DIYer, just not very enthusiastic. My general uneasiness around anything to do with replumbing toilets comes from experience. There are so many options, sizes, and types of toilet, and fittings thats it can be a real PITA to get it spot on. I have replumbed all of our 3 toilets twice now. A large part of the problem is the quality of the spares. So poor. Anyways, that one seems ok, so now i only have to do the main bathroom. A job for next week. After yesterdays success, im not pushing my luck.

So, overall not the most successful day.
Buy sons bike - check, although the shop only do cashback on the value excluding VAT. cheapskates.
Watch the flash (tv) - check.
Watch agents of shield (tv) - failed.
    Completed a survey on SB
Didnt actually leave the house today, so bar the bike, a NSD.
Now sat with the cat on my knee, reading peoples diaries (start to finish on Edinburgher) listening to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HNtsdtnBfk. I must learn to do those little hyperlink thingies. Tips welcome.

I'm in the same boat re. tax, about £1k short at present. Tbh, I'll just bump up the pension contributions if it comes to it. Surveys are pants, aren't they? Just the thought of completing another one fills me with dread :rotfl:

Ps. Straight onto Born Slippy for me after following that link.

To hyperlink, copy the address in one tab, then select the word/text that you want to hyperlink and click on the hyperlink icon. You can then paste the text, click ok and there you go.

    Ah thanks Ed.
Yeah tbh, surveys are painful. Its a terrible return on time. Still, i struggle to fill the amount of days off that i have, so its better than nothing atm.

Not a bad day yesterday. decided to pay £37.80 off the FDCC, just to bring it to an even number. The engineer in me hates things not even and square, so i fix them when i can. Took it to a nice even £5400. Then disaster struck, as a £25 PP voucher i had ordered from SB came available, which was committed to paying of the CC. So that took me back to an uneven number. Disaster.

Well, its going to have to wait. To ease this crisis, i spoke to the excellent people at my excellent bank FD, and upped the mortgage payment to an nice and even £800. Tbh, i was feeling like a bit of a shyster, joining the MFW familiy, but not actually overpaying the mortgage. Its only £42, but its a legit overpayment, and i feel like one of the gang. According to the OP calc. it knocks just over a year off my mortgage.

And so, on to today. I forgot to mention yesterday, that i had to stay in, and wait for DH new mobile phone to be delivered. She forgot to mention to me that she had the day wrong, and its actually due today. I did really well, and barely even rolled my eyes.
    So.
1 load of washing already on the line. Number 2 going in shortly.
Removed old curtain rail brackets from living room wall, and fill holes(just because she asks me to do a job, she doesnt have to remind me every6months)
    Fill holes from said brackets.
Tidy study. Its been on the list all week. CBA.
Watch agents of shield. Determined today.

    Have a nice day all.

AoS is alright, what i call popcorn tv. Now, the blacklist, thats a proper show. Absolutley love it. excellent casting, well acted, good plot and twists. I actually think its better than breaking bad. Still not as good as fringe though.

have to admit i have still to see anything better than Breaking Bad, i watched it from the start and every year whilst waiting for the new series was just hell on my nerves lol, the last series in particular was murder, it started on my birthday and i was counting down the days.

Took me till the Thursday to watch the final episode, i was torn between wanting to watch it and not wanting it to end. Sigh ... i miss Walter lol

Quite enjoying Game of Thrones and Outlander as well :)
