Hi Goldiegirl,
Thanks for the support. Yeah the balance thing is important to us. There is no point working as hard as we both do, only to be miserable, killing ourselves with an unworkable budget.
If you are thinking about match betting in the new year, get reading now, do some practice runs, on a spreadsheet, and get asking all those questions you are not sure about. Its a scary thing at first. I remember my first bet, a £10 for £10 free bet. I was panicking big time. The first 10 or so bets are a bit nervy, but you very quickly get into the routine. The secret is to take your time, double check everything, and ask on the forum if your not 100% sure. There are some very nice people over there, who will be happy to help. There is also a lot of money to be made, especially if you have a decent pot to start with, and plenty of time. (i made £7000 in 14 months).Mortgage £242500 on completion

Something is clearly wrong with life today. I have replumbed the toilet already. No leaks, and only 1 trip to the plumbers merchents (fibre washers, boss white and silicone). Clearly the gable wall is going to fall off the house after lunch.
Swagbucks voucher ordered.
Must remember to book the car in for a service. The warning came up last night. Luckily its prepaid via monthly DD. Unluckily, its 3 years old at the end of the month. MOT time. Might get it done at the dealer with the service, while its still under warranty.Mortgage £242500 on completion

Learn how to use YNAB. (im crap at stuff like that)
I love YNAB. I've been using it since June and wish I knew about it earlier. It took me a while to understand how the system works but I highly recommend doing some of their free online classes. It's only after I did a few of those I really understood how to use it properly.Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)

I've looked at some MB guides briefly, but I'll make sure I understand things in full and have lots of trial runs before I go live. I'm not in a hurry to start, so it'll be one of those things that'll happen when I'm confident enough.
£7000 was an amazing return - if I get into three figures I'd be happy!Early retired - 18th December 2014

I work shifts Ed. so time isnt/wasnt an issue. I cleared pretty much every bookie offer, in the uk, euro bookies, and most of the US. bookies. I did the c0ral offer around 7 times when it was £50 for £50sr. similar for laddies, and a few others. There were also some great low risk casino offers around then, including one which i did for myself and the mrs, my mum and dad, and some work mates. I cleared over £500 on that alone. I was arbing quite a bit as well. I think i started with around £220 quid.Mortgage £242500 on completion

Haven't done anything outside of the UK, no plans to change this in the near future.0

And not a bad plan. Most of the euro bookies are stable, but there were some horror stories of people being badly stung. If you do go outside the UK, stick with the long established europeans. Some of the big US site are ok as well, but they always used to be very big offers. I think it was pinnacle sports, you had to put $5000 in, or some silly amount.
Frankly, i just suffered burnout from it. I hit my goal, and never raised a bet slip in anger again. Unlikely i ever will as well.
Now, what i do need to do is find something to fill my time, and make a little bit of cash to boot. Tried the survey sites, and did ok for about 6 weeks, but its soul destroying, filling in surveys, being knocked back after 10 minutes all for a few 10s of pence. I looked at mysetery shopping, but that has to be declared, and im right on the border of 40% now.............bank robbery it is. 2 or 3 per day should see me right by christmas.Mortgage £242500 on completion
