in Credit cards
Hi. I applied for a Barclaycard last month and was rejected. I then applied for mbna and nationwide and they both accepted me, and gave me ok credit limits(£9000 and £5000), I then applied for a barclaycard, and they accepted me and gave me a £5000 limit. Sounds crazy.

Sounds about right for Barclaycard.
Prepare for them to reject you again once your card arrives.0 -
I'm surprised given there must be quite a few searches on your credit record now.
I hope you're going to be sensible with those cards, that's a lot of creditChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
Zx81. My card has arrived and I have just activated it. I don't think they can cancel it now. Can they?Debt free. March 2020

Doesn't credit rating work on positive feedback from creditors? Meaning that now you have been accepted by the other 2 banks and payments being made, that you then become more credit worthy on you're profile and scoring ??? Maybe I got it wrong but thought the more credit you had positively keep up to date of course the more credit worthy you become ....
My advice tho would be don't do it, don't lend with out a good plan behind you to pay it all back ....0 -
Lottie. Last month I applied to Barclaycard, and got the message saying they need to look into it further, etc etc. I then got the reject letter. I then applied to Nationwide this month, and got the same response, so assumed I had failed, so applied for the Barclaycard anyway, and got the same response, and once again assumed i had failed. I then saw someone on here talk about the Fluid card, I applied and got an instant acceptance with a £9000 limit. So I have not spent on any, didn't want 3 cards, but they are all now up and running, apart from nationwide who have just sent me out a pin number.Debt free. March 2020

Over what period was this?
(Edit: Seems to have been about a month)
Not surprised Barclaycard offered you a £5k limit on a card, especially as you are seemingly good for almost £20k credit now.
Even more so as you've been given all these lines of credit in the last few weeks
Credit crunch?
What credit crunch?
Edit 2: Look like the OP bought a new car last month too
£20k over 4 years

Edit 3:
Looks like the OP also had a Virgin credit card last year with a limit of over £6k

Being good for all this credit, I wonder if this is a clone account for Martin?0 -
Aqua, I initially applied for the barclaycard in the middle of October, I then applied for all 3 cards within a hour at the start of the month.Debt free. March 2020

They can. Probably unlikely, but they have been doing this a lot over the last year or so. They clearly make some final check after sending out the cards, for some bizarre reason.0 -
