My switch went through this morning, 3 weeks after applying for the account. It is bad they don't tell you your switch date though - came as a surprise to me! Good job I'm not actually using the old or new accounts.
  • It was torturing to fill the forms out, I don't know why they didn't add details for new account number & sort code - I had to do add it on the forms manually, three times!

They asked if my old bank has debit card, I confirmed and added my 16 digits. I then noticed my card is expired, though I still added it on the form...hopefully it should be okay!
You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

There was also the privacy one, which had three options. Two of them were pre-ticked for me: don't contact me by phone, don't contact me by mail.

The third one was unticked, and said something along the lines of: don't contact me by email, text, sms, but do contact me by phone/mail.

    Errrrr....

Is it only me that seems to have had a smooth ride so far?

Account opening over phone smooth, received and filled in forms easily, card/pin received and today switch confirmed by letter on 22nd Dec.

It's all been (relatively) smooth sailing but then I opened mine in branch and picked my transfer date.

Just waiting for my goodies ;)

You can also withdraw £500 per day (MC Debit) from an ATM or Post Office if you need your 1k funding without a security token or local branch.

Branch definitely seems the way to go.

I have to say, it is ridiculous saying in the terms and conditions that the switch must be completed in 21 days when it takes them longer than that it some cases to process the paperwork!

4th phone call to Yorkshire (Clydesdale opened 'OK' now), since 19/11. Each time told "approved, paperwork on its way".
This time she (have full name), is 100% certain. We will see.....

Well my switch seems to have gone ahead but when I tried to set up internet banking so I could pay the £1000 in it said I needed an activation code. As the week before I'd phoned to sort out the security pin and make sure everything was right I queried this.

Despite giving them my mobile phone number the week before they said the activation code was sent to a number I didn't recognise, so I asked them to send it to my actual number. Apparently they can't do this as it has to be sent in the post (at Christmas!).

I'm beginning to see why there are 21 days allowed from the switch date to pay in.

It's 31 days following the switch date.

Maybe you're confusing this with the requirement to complete the switch within 21 days of signing the forms?
