Porting to Vodaphone

I've just taken out a shiny new mobile via Cool New Mobile and they stated that they couldn't port my number. No probs I thought - I asked for a PAC number from Orange and passed it onto Vodaphone the same day I received my phone. 3 emails later and a phone call this evening to customer services, they tell me it can't be done!? Am I going mad, or has the technology ceased to exist? The cust servs lady further told me "I couldn't complain to Vodaphone" I did try and tell her I could complain to who ever I wanted, but she insisted I couldn't:mad: Anyway, anyone else out there had the same problem, and what did they do?

You clearly missed this on coolnewmobiles site. :D
Depending on the network that you have chosen, it is possible to port (or transfer) your existing mobile number to your new network.
The networks that Cool New Mobile are currently able to accept number ports onto are as follows:-
    • 3
    • Orange
    • T Mobile
Unfortunately at this moment in time we are unable to accept ports onto the Vodafone and O2 networks .

I hope you had a good read of their terms and conditions before you got your "Shiny new mobile".:o

All that glitters is not gold. :A

    I've been Money Tipped!
It's Vodafone not CNM that have the problem. I thought the same thing as you when I bought a phone from Mobile Outlet (buy phone, give PAC to Vodafone, number ported). Vodfone said you could not do it. I returned phoned under the 14 day cooling off period to MO then got them to port the number (even though the MO site says it can not be done!)
    That's Numberwang!

vodafone and O2 require porting at the time of registration rather than after connection. I had this similar issue and was told by the networks that they could not accept PAC's as I was already connected. Bit odd as T-Mobile and Orange have no such issue with this.

Yes i did read the part that said CNM couldn't port, but what has that got to do with it? I was (and still am) under the impression that your new number provider should carry out the port. Incidentally, the number I have (had) originally started out as a Vodaphone number, then went to Orange, and now Vodaphone are refusing to take it back. Sorry did I miss something??

    Hi iabw12

Unfortunately no matter where you buy your contract from vodafone will not let the port go ahead after the registration. Now you can port your number over only at point of registration but unlike other networks your contract doesnt start untill the number has actually been connected to your new vodafone contract.

This means that if you purchased today for example, your contract will not be connected maybe upto seven days later

The problem with this is that because the deals are always changing, being connected 7 days after the actual application was put in can sometimes take your connection over to the next month.

Now Vodafone for arguments sake can change their commissions for that specific contract within that porting period and because the actual connection has been taken over into this commisions changed period, the dealer who you have applied with cannot give you the deal you initially applied for (because they are receivng less commission)

To save the trouble they simply just state that no portings onto vodafone are allowed.

Hope you understood it. Tried my best

Did you manage to get the port done over to Voda at the end? Of yes what was the procedure?

    Thanks in advance

I wouldn't do it if I were you.
If you 'forced' a port without CNM's knowledge, I bet they will use that as an excuse to reject your cashback claims.
  • My son took out a contract with Vodaphone on Sunday, he has just found out that he could only port his number from o2 if he done it at the time of purchase. He has had the same number for 11 years with o2, he was not told this when he purchased the contract so is not pleased. What seems odd to me is that I ported a number to Asda mobile who use vodaphones network.
