  • Hi Murphy

I suspect you are probably right and I need to be patient, but I keep looking in case I spot a bargain - that actually exists!

We prefer indirect & we're happy to go from Dublin if it saves us enough - just need a price I can live with.
"Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee."

In the past, I've looked at taking the Dublin/Amsterdam/other eu airport route, but the potential saving has never made it worthwhile for me compared to the hassle and aggravation of taking an additional flight/extra nights hotel.

One thought for you -- when you're using the ITA Matrix milarkey, have you included all of the airports that you are prepared to fly from ? At one stage last year, flying Birmingham to Boston, rather than Manchester to Boston was £200pp cheaper, both with the same airline.

Yes, I do tick the "nearby" option - Birmingham would be good for us, London less so but still doable. This year it was cheaper for us to go from Manchester to London and onto the USA from there than it was to start at Heathrow - madness!

I guess the draw for Dublin for us is that Manchester is only an hour away by train, so it's not too hard to get there and then go across the water. We'd just stay overnight in Dublin rather than Manchester. If I can get a price I'm happy with without having to fly to Dublin first, all the better! I'd rather not have to get on the plane wearing 3 pairs of shoes to make sure I'm within Ryanair's hold luggage requirements!
