ITA matrix - booking the flights?

I'm hoping someone can help me out - I've found some flights I'd like to book using the ita matrix website, but I'm struggling to find the actual flights to book them! I can't get the same combination of flights or price on the airline website, or with expedia or ebookers. Do I need to ring up with all the codes etc or is there another way to find the flights?

Look at airlines websites in the same alliance, otherwise call trailfinders in the morning.

Also use kayak to see if they come up with anything.

Avoid Opodo eDreams go to gate etc.

  • Tried Trailfinders - they'd never heard of the ITA Matrix and spoke to me like I was a bit of an idiot. Also told me that if I try to book flights from Dublin to the USA at a lower price then I wouldn't be able to as I'm not Irish and those fares are for Irish people only!

I don't understand why a ticket would show up on the matrix that nobody can actually book?

Does the itinerary pop up on https://www.kayak.ie ?

Ultimately the airlines' fare rules may say itineraries starting in DUB are only for sale to Irish addresses, with different prices for uk residents.

  • Thanks Richard. I can't find it on Kayak.ie either. I have found similar on Orbitz but not quite at the same price. I would rather book directly with the airline but the prices are coming out much more expensive.

what sales city did you use in ITA Matrix?
If you left it blank it will default to Irish POS. If you put in London it should give you options you can purchase in the UK

I generally find that I can locate these fares by using either Hipmunk or Google Flights.

Try Google first as Hipmunk can be a bit more complicated. If Google Flights finds them then it will give you a direct link to buy them.

Thanks - I hadn't specified. I have now and it's giving me different options with the same price - but I still can't find them to book. Arrghh! I've tried google flights and hipmunk.

    Will keep trying.

Give the information (either a screenshot from ITA Matrix or type out all the info) and I'll see if I can find it.

Sometimes they're just not possible to book, but if you keep trying you can usually find something close.

So I guess you specified GBP in the currency box? The conversion they used seems a bit off as the fare quoted in Euros converts to £2776.62 - and that's without any mark up they might be.

But the closest I've managed to get is £2963 - have you already found that? I'll have another look a bit later but I can't see myself finding any better than that.

EDIT: Nope, I've found £2764 now on ebookers.com. I think that's as close as you're realistically going to get!
