Talkmobile 4G
Options
I've just upgraded my Talkmobile contract to a 4G enabled phone.
Does anyone know when Talkmobile will be introducing 4G? The customer service operator told me it will be when Vodafone become 4G enabled, as they piggy back, but as far as I can tell from Vodafone's website they have upgraded to 4G already.

No one knows, but as Talkmobile is a bargain basement offering it will probably be one the last to get access.====0 -
According to Vodafone's adverts they only have 4G in 11 cities at the moment, so depending on where you live you could be waiting quite a while.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -

Ah yes, my location is on the "starting to roll out 4G" list.
So does that mean when it does arrive chez moi, or prior to that if I am in an area with Vodafone 4G already enabled, my Talkmobile handset will automatically pick up a 4G signal? I'm in London next weekend so will be able to test this for myself but just wondering.0 -
No.
Talk Mobile does not have 4G.
Vodafone do but Talk Mobile haven't enabled it for their customers. And probably won't for a long time.0 -

As I said in post 2, the 'bargain basement' isn't going to be getting the luxury features for a long time. Vodafone haven't even allowed all their own customers to access 4G yet, (for example, you have to buy a minimum freebie of £20 to get it on PAYG).
If Talk Mobile get it in the next 12 months I would personally be surprised (but stranger things have happened, I suppose).====0 -
I expect Talkmobile and Sainsburys mobile (also run on Vodafone) are due to get 4G in the not too distant future with Tesco mobile offering 4G as standard. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Tesco are an O2 MVNO and on quite different terms with the network compared to the Vodafone MVNOs.
Sainsburys Mobile are likely to get 4G before Talkmobile, when it does happen (probably next year sometime).====0 -
I understood Vodafone's arrangement with Sainsbury's is very similar to Tesco's with O2 i.e. 50/50 JV.
Obviously, as Tesco has 4G LTE then there will be pressure on Vodafone to enable it for Sainsburys...Tesco are an O2 MVNO and on quite different terms with the network compared to the Vodafone MVNOs.

VF network is so CR*PWhat happens if you push this button?0

Reports today indicate the Talktalk are moving to o2. However as Talktalk are very budget oriented it doesn't necessarily follow that 4g can be anticipated soon.0
