You've all brought back so many memories.
Your mum is the same age as me and some of the things I remember loving were:
Grease and John Travolta
Rubiks cube
Jackie magazine
Wispa bars
Jacks
Clackers
Big orange space hopper
New romantic music
Mittens on string
I hope you're mum enjoys her Christmas present.0 -

Good thread.
I used to read the Bunty as well as the Jackie. Loved clackers, chocolate white mice, can't remember what they were called but like shape of two yoyos tied together with string that you clicked together in your hands from holidays in Spain.
Loved my xylophone, space hopper as toys.
Adored David Cassidy, Donny Osmond and don't think anyone has mentioned them yet - the Bay City Rollers.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Spanish Gold Sweet tobacco. http://www.oldestsweetshop.co.uk/sweet-tobacco-spanish-gold
It certainly didn't cost £4 when I was a kid0 -
Been thinking of other things I loved about the 70s.
Tweed perfume
A necklace made out of an elastic thread and sweets threaded over the top, they had them in necklaces, bracelets and watches.
Chopper bikes
Big Afro hair
Disco glitter balls
Fur trimmed suede jackets/coats
Bell bottom trousers
For the hair a leather cover with two holes in that you put a wooden pole through
Banana clips
Very loud coloured bedding covers
My all time favourite toy was the woo woo woo, can't remember the name of it. It was a hollow plastic tube that was swung above your head and made a woo woo noise.
Etch a sketch
Will and try remember some more and will post again.0 -
