As a newbie to Black Friday, does anyone know when it actually starts online, is it from midnight and what's it usually like with availability online?

    Thank you in advance

Don't panic. You'll see a clear link and underneath each product a timer counting down to when the buying process for that item and price reveal will commence.

(there was a site last year that told you about 10 mins before the reveal what the expected price was!)
  • if i remember rightly i think the deals starts from about 8am, can't remember what tume they finish, and you need to be sat at your computer if there is something you want as some items go quicker than you can blink! you need to be logged in and ready to hit the buy button! some things they show you whats coming up, and other they dont tell you until it goes live, it has a little countdown under the item usually with when it will go live hth :)
  • I thought it was rubbish last year, the deals/prices were nowhere near as good as they had been in the first year.

Just be careful as last year my credit card details were cloned during this week, as Amazon outsource to other data centres during busy times and this does decrease the security of your cards. I will still be joining in again this year though, but proceeding with more caution as to which cards/ money sources I use!

Amazon are one of the largest hosting providers in the world. They don't have any need to outsource during busy periods, they can handle it.
  • Hi!

What's peoples stragedy on Black Friday?

I've watched it over the last cfew years on Amazon and either not got the thign I wanted or ended up with something I don't need!

My thought process is this -

This year, Santa is being asked for a Mini iPad for my daughter and an X Box for my son.

I'm thinking of getting them at John Lewis on maybe the Thursday before Black Friday. Then, if either product is reduced 28 days after I buy it I will be able to claim the difference at John Lewis and have the product in hand, make sure it's at the cheapest price without and have a three year warranty to boot!

If nether product has been reduced then I've sitll got the item before Christmas and a 3 year gaurentee!

Is this something that anyone has done in the past?!

  • Last year's was a bit naff, the first year was brill though. Got some real bargains then!

Might be stronger this year. Amazon are going to be aware of lots of other retailers moving in to try and grab some of the activity, so they might have to up the ante to sustain the lions share!

I heard a rumour that Very / Littleworths were going to be targeting Black Friday.

    Let the games commence!

Ooh I hope so! The first year was so much fun knowing there were real bargains to be had. Now I've just got to figure out how to have Amazon open at work without anyone noticing...

If the early ones they have currently are anything to go by the one I had half an eye on was reduced by 34% to start with before offer was then reduced to 43% and they only had 2 so went in a flash. I would have wanted 60% anyway before I would have considered it.
I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.
