How are you paying £48 for 6 months for 231 cubic meters? Our surface water and standing charges are more than that.

Are you aware you may be able to claim relief from that charge(surface water drainage(SWD)?


If none of your surface water(gutters etc) enters the sewerage system - yo don't pay that charge.

So looking at your usage I would say it is probably correct. Baths are especially high usage and of course simply flushing the loo on every use uses a lot and is a waste. Surely some modifications to usage could be considered.

My savings are because I don't shower every day (a quick wash by the sink generally), never have a bath, don't flush the loo more than two or three times a day (I run a secondary shower hose to clean my 'undercarriage' and flush... saves lots!!), am out of the country six months of the year and I live alone.

Sometimes the leak comes from your cistern when the Flush Valve Seal or Washer is perished this can cause a slow and steady leak or drip into the Pan and its sometimes hard to find and this could cost you loads on your water bill like wise you if this is not shutting properly after filling this could cost you as well.
