My new neighbours, a young couple - first house, started with loud music. Probably thinking "Wow, its our house and we can do what we want, no nagging parents" type of thing.

The noise shook my walls, thumping trash they were playing.

I turned on my stereo, proper loud too and went out on the beer in town leaving it on. Stayed at a friends house that night.

Came back next moring (lunchtime), turned stereo off and haven't heard a peep since. Well not quite, but nothing that disturbs me!

That was about 8 months ago. Never looked back. :)

    You're my hero! :T

I have to ask though, what about your other neighbours? I once lived above a nfh and would have loved to do something like that, but the next door neighbours were lovely and I didn't want to upset them.

I am on the end of a group of three so there was only a driveway on the other side.

The people the other side of the Ex-noisy neighbours are a bunch of Poles!!

Couple of suggestions (depending on their age):

    1. Teenbuzz - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teen_Buzz (this frequency can only be heard by people under a certain age [in most cases - there are obviously always a few exceptions] I have tested this on my nieces and nephews and my much older sister and can vouch for the fact we all hear different frequencies...
    2. A nice bit of Mozart or Beethoven....!

Ah, neighbours from h*ll - one of the few advantages of renting is that you can just leave them behind...

No no go for Bach, it's even more depressing.

my neighbours play loud music from time to time, so do i, to be honest i prefer it that way, they dont have cause to complain if im playing mine, nor i if they play theres, its never been spoken about, agreed upon or anything else,

only complaints i get are of my own kids

i prefer to live with noise my self, so im free to make any that i want as well.
  • Update..

On the advice of our solicitor we are claiming against the previous owners of our house for misleading us about the situation with the neighbours. Yes we were perhaps a bit naive when we bought the house, but we took what we were told in good faith and I guess are now paying the price.

We have sent our solicitor (this will be covered by our House Insurance) the completed claim form, statement, 'witness' statements from our neighbours and other documentation so now it is a case of wait and see.

We were told by the sellers that they had logged a complaint (the neighbours are Housing Association tenants) about loud music but the problem had now been resolved. When in fact there is a catalogue of problems with anti social behaviour from next door that goes way beyond loud music...

Anyway, we will wait and see. I'm not sure what will come of it (my friend is suggesting that we may get a payout but we just want them to realise they did in fact mislead us and I guess its the principal of the matter).

    Cheers,

Ah - if they are HA tenants then I believe you can complain to the HA, which should take action - they can be given formal warnings and even be evicted for being a consistent pain in the bum. Ask around and take advice - you may need to get evidence that it's an ongoing thing from the old owners if you can, such as logs of calls to environmental health and so forth.
