Reason sellers were moving and noisy neighbours - update

Thanks guys - but its a bit late now to say that we should have walked away!
The sellers implied that the problem wasn't a particularly serious one, they just felt they couldn't handle it and said that instead of knocking on the door and complaining they contacted the council who suggested mediation. Having said that the implication was that the problem wasn't that big and they had possibly blown it out of proportion. We thought that it was great they were being so honest (bloody stupid us I know) with us etc...
We have tried and tried with our neighbour and are so fed up. She lives with three children and her two oldest are the main culprits of the nose. The woman is quite pleasant and when we go around there to complain we then have about a week of peaceful bliss and then it starts. It's loud music, slamming doors, swearing etc - drives me bonkers.
To be honest, I don't think our neighbour would have thought that now the old neighbours have gone, we can start up again, I reckon they have been pretty consistent.
And it wasn't like the sellers were 'warning' us, they were telling us that there had been a small problem which was partly their fault as they hadn't gone around and complained.
Since we moved in we have learned that quite a few of the neighbours complained to the council and kept logs, but apparantly it is much better now than it used to be.
We just want it to be sorted and peaceful.0 -

It's a bit late to ask what you should do really.0 -
Best advice I can give now is to check the responses your solicitor received from the sellers. The solicitor should have really prompted you to ask more questions and ask for paperwork proving that the issue had only been "minor".
Failing that, send a solicitors letter to the house causing a nuisance. If it's rented send a copy to the LL or Housing Association. The time of being nice is way over ....
I've been in this situation before, it's not nice - but once a solicitors letter drops through the door and people realise they might have a court order made against them and have to pay legal fees it could focus the mind!
Good Luck!0 -

My new neighbours, a young couple - first house, started with loud music. Probably thinking "Wow, its our house and we can do what we want, no nagging parents" type of thing.
The noise shook my walls, thumping trash they were playing.
I turned on my stereo, proper loud too and went out on the beer in town leaving it on. Stayed at a friends house that night.
Came back next moring (lunchtime), turned stereo off and haven't heard a peep since. Well not quite, but nothing that disturbs me!
That was about 8 months ago. Never looked back.0 -

I'm with you on that one
I'm guessing her kids are teenagers so the chances are that Metallica won't do the trick. Cliff Richard is perhaps the best bet. Or Jethro Tull.
Or perhaps Des O'Conner :rotfl:You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" Large print giveth - small print taketh away. "0 -
