Whos still travelling both ways? The tunnel is terrible currently. The bridge is quite good now apart from the people slowing down for the booths that you drive around not through.0

Depends how long ago he got his tag I think, when it was first introduced there wasn't a deposit, then they changed it.
Evenso, I still don't understand why they're bothering with the tags and ANPR.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I am. The bridge is a dream, the tunnel still a nightmare.
I was so envious of the bridgers on Friday evening, swanning across while I sat in the queue for the tunnel. Although I suppose it's a good indication of how so much better it will be once they're removed the toll plaza completely and we'll be able to drive through both ways without having to stop.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

My first tags are around 6 years old- my son had one as recently as last year, all that was required was a top up. It is possible that someone getting a refund was merely getting back the balance in their Dart Tag account.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They had a BBC Essex team down at the crossing on the first working day of the new system. They asked the operations manager about how reliable the Dart Charge system was and his response was "we expect to loose £10m+ in revenues each year due to unreadable number plates, foriegn number plates and vehicles simply tail-gating the vehicle in front so the ANPR can't read the number plate".
I find this quite extraordinary. Switch from a stop & pay system to a free-flow system to save money, then realize that it fact, it will loose them a huge amount of their revenue.Never Knowingly Understood.

I do remember reading on their website about deposits, but thought it was strange as we didn't pay one either, we've had ours for ever, probably since they first came out.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I like the bridge now, just the return journey is no where near as good. Hope they sort it soon.0
