    Sorry

if you are a 123 current account customer, then apply for their 123 CC, they have a £24 (ish) annual charge for the CC. but for the 1st year as you have a123 current account with them already, this is waived (well they credit you with £24 or whatever the cost is exactly). BUT only for 12 months
Yes, so might be possible to ditch it after the first year, and then get another!
  • I guess your partner could open 123 current and then get a 123 CC on the back of it when your runs out. But offer may have gone by then.
    or
Renegotiate ? (you have 2 products with them and if you are a good customer then possible ?)

My thought was to negotiate after the 12 months with a low expectation and find something similar if it worked (I think Amex did one with 5% cash back.

All banks are flying off promotions to attract us poor flies so some thing will be around in 12 months.

Cash back on the 123 CC feels lower and harder to earn than the current account.
Debt is a symptom, solve the problem.

Not sure if you could negotiate a second fee free period, but worth a go I guess.

I think that the Amex card with the 5% offer on it only lasts for 3 months.

The best of these recently was a card called Luma by Capital One - it pays 4% back on supermarket shopping and petrol and it also worked in a handful of other stores at 4%. It's no longer offered with the 4% rebate.

It was aimed at people with poor credit history, but not exclusively.
  • bit of an oxymoron

'credit card for people with poor credit'

but I do get why they have a market and why individuals think they need a credit card

Always worth negotiating from a position of strength

When applying and it asks how much will be payed in each month, you have to say at least £500, is this right.

You have to pay in at least £500 in order to get interest.

Thats what i have got wrong, i thought they would not accept you if you could not pay in at least £500 per month, regardless of interest.

Just been turned down for this account, at the end it says your monthly outgoings are more than your monthly net income, but thats not right, i put the right numbers down but am thinking its maybe because i chose household maintainace as the reason for applying, and not main or second current account.

I got the same thing when applying for my second 123 recently and the figures were defo ok so called them and got it opened no problem.Give them a call and explain what happened.

I have been with Santander for a few years and switched to 123 a few months ago. I also got a 123 credit card.

So far I think both accounts are excellent. I like the cashbacks which already total more than any expected charges.

I have had to contact customer services twice only, and that was before I switched to 123. On both occasions they were helpful and efficient.

I'm a satisfied customer so far.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
