I’ve sent off an email stating I don’t have any knowledge of any debt to Abbey or Robinson Way and the onus of proof is on them.

Also stating consumer credit act and asking them to provide proof before contacting me with threatening letters again.

My question is: is there a deadline for them to respond?

    Short answer is no.

Thanks, just crazy how they can act like this.

I’ll update any news as I receive it.

Had an auto response saying they may reply to my email in 5 days, but may have to write to me due to data protection.

Odd that they didn’t care about DP when contacting me in the first place.

Well, no written/email response, but calls and texts continue.

Should I just ignore, or email again and complain of harassment?

From what you say you simply mentioned the Consumer Credit Act in your email.

A formal s 77-79 CCA Request must be accompanied by the £1 statutory fee in order to protect your legal position. They would have 14 days to comply and if they don't/can't the debt becomes unenforceable until or unless they do comply.

Obviously that (£1 statutory fee) cannot be paid by email and/or text (my apologies for not reading back through the thread).

Has your only contact with Robinson Way been by email? Because if they don't have your actual address (on terra firma :) ) you may need to consider whether you want to disclose it at this stage.

Robinson Way collect debt for Hoist Portfolio (which owns them) so does that help you to identify what debt they may be chasing?

Think the OP is confusing the provit letter, with a CCA request.

I believe it was the provit letter they sent by email, although that makes no mention of the consumer credit act for obvious reasons.

The email sent was in response to a letter that was sent to my home.

Yep, apologies on my terminology, I used the terminology from the template link posted earlier.

I genuinely have no idea where the alleged debt is from. I’ve no defaults on any of my credit reports.

I would just ignore them and block the number...

Ignored and contact stopped for now. Should they start again, I’ll let you know.

    Thanks all, for your input.

They’ve written to me today saying they’re looking into my query, and have put my account on hold.

If they have a genuine debt that I owe, why not just send me the proof?
