on booking airline tickets in a particular name? It seems a lot of problems are caused by people giving the wrong name when booking a flight and they are then charged for the airline changing the name on the ticket. I believe there's another reason not yet mentioned.

I think airlines are required by law to have passenger lists to assist identification/recovery in the event of a crash - trains and buses aren't subject to these rules.
