I've completed the challenge - hurrah! I've been able to use the money in my jar to cover the cost of my holiday flights next year. There's no way I'd have had that money if it hadn't been for this challenge so thank you to all who post here and, if he's still reading, MrCrimeFiction.

Am looking forward to taking part in the next challenge!

Went away for a holiday with hubby and daughter last week as we needed the break due to hubby having a stroke, using the Christmas fund, and we did mon-fri spending money and the lot for about £250, so still got money left in the pot towards Christmas :)

  • Well done everyone! This challenge has been great and has taken all the stress out of Christmas

I've bought some of my Christmas presents and still have my second tin to open so still putting my ££'s in until the end of the month.

  • One more to add today, November total up to £22 :)

It's good to see you back, Kathrynha, I hope your husband is improving.

Ellieseleven, are you going to take on the thread for next year? You are very supportive, I'm sure you would do it well.

Mr CF, please come back and post up a final spreadsheet, we miss you :o

It turns out the answer to my problems wasn’t at the bottom of this tub of ice-cream, 🍨 but the important thing is that I tried...
  • I'm happy to take on the thread for next year if Mr CF doesn't make a comeback...
  • I've decided to open my second tin before the end of the month so that I can bag it all up and take it to the bank.

My total amount for the year 2015 is... £858

I have been putting a little extra in now and again but I am so happy that I have done this challenge. Money is always tight for us at this time of year due to OH's seasonal work so this is a massive boost for us:D

If anyone is interested in doing this challenge again for 2016, I am happy to post a new thread in the absence of Mr CF although I won't include the spreadsheet due to time constraints so everyone will need to keep tabs on their own totals...unless anyone else wants to do this?

  • Hello everyone,

If you are interested, I have created a new thread "Saving for Xmas 2016" so we can all carry on saving for next year.

The aim is to start on December 1st (as we did for this challenge), also I want to carry on saving my ££'s now I'm in the swing.

    Please feel to join in:D

  • Don't forget everyone, we are going to do this challenge again for 2016 if you would like to join in. You just need to add your name and the amount you are aiming for e.g. £365 or £730, decide on where you are going to keep your pounds (I have a shiny new tin) and then start adding your pound from 1st December.

Thanks to Triple choc chip for adding the link to our new thread (above)

Come on everyone, we did brilliantly this year, let's keep it going:D
