Bottled water - I need to pick up extra

Options
NOT FOR MYSELF I hasten to add :D

I have a neighbour in her 70s, I bumped into her at the bus stop this morning. She was going into town to BUY water, she can't get to Tesco to pick up some for free. After telling her off for not asking neighbours for help lol, I said I'd get some for her. Will I be allowed to take extra for her, or will I have to take her with me to 'prove' it's not all for me? It's showery here and I don't want her to stand in the rain if she doesn't have to.

Is it possible for you to phone the Tesco in question to ask them? They might ask you to prove it's for someone else?

Sorry tine, I should have said :o

Tesco isn't open (they had a fire), the carpark is just being used as a pick-up point for bottles.

On yesterday's TV news, loads of people were collecting water for elderly neighbours. But in case some supervisor gets picky, why not take a note from her together with one of her utility bills?

LOL hey it as a great idea up till then ;)

OK is there a local helpline in your area you can call? If not then I would suggest asking your neighbour to write a letter explaining she's elderly and would be having great trouble getting to the collection point and has asked you to knidly pick up the water on her behalf - if you have a mobile and she has one too (or still has mains phones) then make sure you have her number with you so they can call her if they wanted to check up - I'd think they should be fairly sympathetic - after all lots of elderly people must be caught up in this... I'd chance going without her to be honest :)

I rang the council, eventually got through to the right dept :D

They won't accept a letter or a bill, she has to come with me, apparently a lot of people have been taking the mickey and taking far too much  Because of them, she'll (and probably plenty of other elderly people) have to stand in the rain.

It is down to the likes of that family on the news. They loaded their 4x4 up and quickly drove off. Perhaps they didn`t understand that we usually play fair in this country

Everyone I've spoken to has seen that news clip, wonder how they're being treated by their neighbours

Mr tru reckons they're going to empty a bowser for themselves, then sell the bottled water on.

We had some yobs with a truck try to load up with our free water delivery so they could go off and sell it.....the police were called and they scarpered, but not before they'd got a fair bit.

Our friend is in Spain at the moment so we rang his elderly mother, to make sure she was ok. Then we rang the local parish council who are now delivering water to her doorstep and some shopping.

Can both you and your partner go and get a quota of water each, keep one for yourselves and give one to the neighbour? All of my neighbours seem to be getting bottled water OK, the local supermarkets have had deliveries of 5 litre bottles which are for sale, though the bowsers have not appeared at my 2 closest locations yet.

The queue was not long for the bottled water being handed out by the police in Sainsbury's carpark in Stroud if you want to drive that far. Though if they do switch off the supply to more of the surrounding areas that will change.
