£10,000 gone by summer 2015 - we can do it!

Hi rokchik, your diary caught my eye as we're aiming to clear our debt by June 2015
We're also in the SE and have a similar joint income to you although have not one but two daughters keeping us on our toes
We also recently said farewell to our trusty but ailing 8-year-old Renault, realising that it would simply cost us too much to fix, and with MOT, tax and insurance up for renewal this month. I miss it but I'm glad of the money we've saved ... Good luck with your decision and good luck with your DFW journey - I'm subscribing
Sorry about the suggestive wink at the start of the post, I can't work out how to get rid of it!0 -
Hi pickle, good luck with your journey. I think the car will have to go.....it's a shame as DH does love it.
All the emoticons / signatures etc are a bit of a grey area for me too - I like the little winking one though:rotfl:
Happy evening everyone.

Urgh, hangover this morning - DH bought me a bottle of rose Cava to celebrate our wedding anniversary . I rarely drink, so feeling a bit delicate today!
Cat to the vet today for a check up. She has hyperthyroidism as well as diabetes, so needs regular check ups and blood tests. £77 for that, eek!
DH is off to get the two tyres replaced today, and is going to see if he can get a quote for the suspension. Still torn as to what to do with the car, I think I'll leave the final decision to him, as it is his after all.
Have decided to update totals next week, as haven't managed to pay much off this week, (am paid weekly). Hopefully next week I'll be able to make a bigger dent.

Thank you Calling!
Tyres not done - DH went down to our local tyre place , who are wonderful - so honest! They refused to do the work until the suspension was checked and sorted, as they felt it would be a huge waste of our money to fit new tyres which would immediately start to wear unevenly. DH has booked the car into our garage, (also lovely and very honest), so they will look at it on Dec 1st. They won't do any work until they've done a proper quote too. Very grateful to have found both of these places - I could write a book on the number of mechanics and tyre places that have ripped me off over the years.
Luckily I have a work car in the week, so DH can use my little runaround in the meantime, and we'll just have to share on weekends.
Out with my sisters tonight to a gig - ticket paid for ages ago, so just need enough money for a drink or two. Looking forward to it, haven't seen any live music for ages.
Got a nice surprise yesterday - a cash back cheque from my home insurance company for £25. I'd completely forgotten about it, so it was nice to come home to. :j

Really angry today, (not debt related). DH has been slandered / libelled by some ignorant gits he used to have professional dealings with. Can't really go into details, but the sort of thing that could be damaging to his professional reputation. Unfortunately we can't afford to do anything about it, (no legal aid for defamation cases), which they are well aware of. I'm contemplating asking a solicitor friend to write them a 'stern' letter, telling them to !!!!!! or we'll take it further, but DH reluctant. I'm so angry on his behalf - he's done nothing to these people and used to consider them friends.:mad::mad:0

Hopefully it will blow over quickly Rokchick. These things often do. And if they are ignorant gits (I am sure they are if you say so) people will realise this soon enough, and not take too much notice. If there is no ongoing disagreement, it sounds as though they make a habit of it, and nobody listens to people like that for very long.0 -
Hi Dawn, you're absolutely right - they do have a history of behaving like this and, as you said, they are known for it and most people ignore them. I just hate the idea of them 'getting away with it'! DH wants to keep a dignified silence though, and he is, of course, quite right. Rise above it I keep telling myself! Thank you for your kind words

So, time for updated figures. There is now more on 0% due to a balance transfer. Not as much paid off lately as I'd like, but Christmas is getting in the way a bit:)
Fluid visa - £7813
Smile visa - £2340
Total - £10153
Next goal is to break the £10,000 barrier!!0 -
Gosh, just realised I've not been back for a while!
Have quote for car - it's going to be around £300, so we've decided to go ahead, let's hope it's the right decision!
I have today deferred from my current OU module, I will restart it in February. I've got so much going on at the moment with trying to find a property, a school, and a new childminder, that my marks were suffering. This way, I can get everything sorted then start afresh. The OU are letting me bin my recent assignments, (as the marks were pretty poor), so I will get the chance to do them again, (not exactly the same, the course content will change a little, but the assignments will be similar), and hopefully do better second time round.
Xmas shopping nearly done, just need to sort out my sis and her husband.
Will update totals later in the week
