£10,000 gone by summer 2015 - we can do it!

Not much to report today. Fluid have confirmed my 0% balance transfer, which is good news. It hasn't shown up on my Smile account yet, so I will update my totals once the transfer is complete and once I've made another payment or two

Nearly a NSD, but had to pick up a couple of gifts for birthday parties my DD is going to soon, so spent just over £11. A really disproportionate amount of kids in her class seem to have birthdays between Oct - Dec, (including her!).
Looks like we'll be leaving our current house in February to move to a cheaper rental short term. Hopefully this will help us pay down the debt even quicker. We're going to move down to the area that we hope to buy in eventually, which will mean a change of school for DD. I haven't told her yet, but my gut feeling is that she'll be fine, as she makes friends very easily. DH is not convinced though, and spends a lot of time worrying about it. I have started to quote my motto at him, not sure if it's helping or not!0 -
:TWell done. i will keep an eye and wish you luck xJune 23.25/250 Monthly money making target0

Thank you Happymac!
Aiming for a NSD today - will return later to update.......!0 -
No NSD today - jumped in my car at the station to go and pick up DD from the CM, only to discover that DH had helpfully used every drop of petrol in the tank before dropping it off!
So I took the opportunity to bung £30 in, as I've got a couple of journeys to make over the weekend. No spending today apart from that, (and the chocolate I impulse bought at the till!).
Lots to sort over the next couple of months, new rental property, new school for DD, new CM - the list goes on! And not forgetting Xmas and DD's birthday
Back tomorrow

NSD today - very pleased. Did some sorting out and sent a few things off to recycling / tip / charity shop. Determined not to haul boxes of junk with us when we move, (DH has hoarding tendencies). Tomorrow will try to tackle the garden if the weather improves, it's full of piles of old plant pots, buckets etc.
Need to get get started on my next assignment tonight - was very unhappy with the mark I got for the last one, so time to put a bit more effort in methinks.
Happy weekend to all

Had to pick up a few bits today, so no NSD for me.
Replacement loo seat - £19.99
Cat food and supplies for the hamster - £15.60 (cat is diabetic so has eye wateringly expensive food).
Groceries - £8.45
Listed a few bits on FB - just freebies which I didn't think I could charge for, but too good to chuck. All snapped up and picked up by this evening, so pleased with that.
Also listed DD's old ELC farm on ebay, but have had to promise to give her the money! She's a shrewd one, (particularly as she's only 5!).
Had a look in the loft - there's a ton of junk up there that needs sorting and shifting, there is NO WAY it's coming with us. If DH doesn't like it then he can cough up for storage for it all.

Quiet day today, visited my lovely mum for lunch and a walk

Spent £6.45 on the groceries I forgot yesterday;)
Payday tomorrow, quite a few DD's coming out this week, but hopefully will still be able to make some card payments. Will update totals midweek.0 -
Annoyed with myself today.
Completely forgot I'd been meaning to cancel Amazon Prime, and it's auto renewed today. Was £49 last year, now £79!
Reason for the increase is you now get the Instant Video service included, which is all very well, but I already have Netflix, so don't actually need it .
Too late now though, so will have to suck it up. I do like the free, next day delivery aspect of Prime, but there's no way I'd pay nearly £80 for just that!
Lesson learned anyway. Wedding anniversary tomorrow, so will buy DH a card, (we never do presents), other than that there's nothing to buy today.
Bad news though about DH's ancient car - I noticed the exhaust was loose earlier, so he took it down to the garage. They've had a look and:
- middle and back of exhaust need replacing
- there's something wrong with the suspension (?!?)
- as a result of this, the front tyres have worn unevenly, and are now bald on the inside. Need replacing NOW as are illegal
- this is as well as an ongoing problem with the seat belt tensioner, which is causing the air bag light to stay on
DH is ready to just get rid and sell it for parts, (it's 15 years old), but I keep thinking of the £950 we spent in the summer to sort out a host of other problems and get it through it's MOT - what a waste!
I think we will get quotes for all the work needed and take it from there. Anyone want a 15 year old Ford Puma?!?0 -
I know how you feel about not wanting to get rid of the car because of all you've spent on it but it sounds like its at the point where you might be constantly spending on it, it might work out better to just bite the bullet and get another. Hope you get a few bob back selling it.Mortgage started 02/2015 opening balance -£183,349
Due to end 02/2045
Current balance 14/12/15 -£178,000
MFW #48 £2395.25/£50000 -
Absolutely NewMe, I really suspect it's going to become a money pit unfortunately. We'll get the quotes and take it from there - if we sell it for spares we should get £100 - £150, and to buy another, (in good condition with MOT), would be around £700. Argh, hate cars!! :mad:0
