I have also been promissed £29.99 conection fee(August 2010) but still charged £69.99. When I rung, they promissed to refund £39.99 it in the next bill but nothing happened. I rung them again today but the rep tried to brush me off. I insisted to speak to the supervisor, which took 30 min waiting. He promissed to investigate recordings of this promise and come back to me in 5 working days.0

Tiscali are Talk Talk so it may be worth trying Tiscali to get the price down and no connection fee .

I doubt that the hassle over a free connection will be the biggest problem you face over the lifetime of your relationship with TalkTalk.0
