How much do you spend on pet food?

I have an 11 year old cat, and I spend about £10-£12 a week on her food. I tend to buy whatever is on offer, and if nothing is on offer than the stores own brand. However she is picky, and doesn't like the same brand twice in a row (my fault I know!!) so I tend to mix it up :)

How much do you spend? And on what animals?

my Giz used to have whiskers pouches, but he could get through 3 or 4 a day! so i switched to Butchers classic cat food and he gets through about 3/4 - 1 tin a day plus biscuits, so i think i spend about £15 a month on his food.
Cats don't have owners - they have staff!! :D:p

£35 a month on dog food for 2 small dogs, one has a lot of allergies so we never change having found one that suits.

We also have 6 hens, but I've never worked out how much they cost, they have organic corn and pellets, but £20 for 2 bags seems to last a good while and £4 a month on sunflower seeds . Not pets, but I seem to be feeding the remaining sparrow population and they get through loads so I've never added how much that costs in case I have a shock :)

My cat won't eat tinned or pouched food so he gets raw fish and meat -currently cod and pork - as well as Iams biscuits which he's keen on. I spend £4-£5 per week in total so quite cheap in comparison really.

I feed my 5 dogs a natural raw diet and spend approximately £50 per month including treats. My dogs are all approx. 10kg in weight, so not massive but not tiny either!
    Nice to save.

My cat costs me about £5 a week in pouches. He's fussy (aren't they all?!) so I usually have 2-3 boxes open at once.

Dumbass dog wont eat dry food so about £7-10 a week on pouches of good quality food, then a couple of pounds on raw chicken wings and a couple of pounds on raw bones plus some free ones from the butcher.

  • 1 bag of wainwrights dry food every 3-4 months.
One box of Wainwrights wet food trays every... well there's 12 trays, he eats approx one per week.. so every 3 months...

So £9.99 every 3 months on wet, £8.99 every 3 months on dry..

We spend £6.33 per month on his food. Oh the benefits of having a small dog! :D
    I can't add up.
  • I have worked it out and we spend around £12 pm on our dog, thats including treats. I have just realised that she is fine on and actually prefers a cheaper brand of tinned food so thats saving us about £5pm!

    She is only 7.5kg though

Yup, we usually have a gravy box, a jelly box and a supermarket own brand box open at the same time. At various times he loves all of them, at other times he turns his nose up at them like I'm trying to poison him. No way of knowing which way it's going to go.... but I do know that if I try to give him something from the same box for more than two days in a row he won't touch it :D.
