Hi all,
I have the original Note bought 3 years ago and it is on Android 4.1.2 .
I get this message constantly now so I am guessing I need to reinstall Android. How would I do this as painlessly as possible whilst making sure data, particularly calendars, are backed up and restorable?
Thanks for any assistance!

Delete your google account from the phone.
Then in settings, go to app manager and google play service (or something like that, can't remember) - clear the cache and everything else in there.
Reboot etc.
Sign in again with google account and try google play again.0 -
App data as well as Cache?0

Thanks OneADay, I had tried the cache/data clearing in the past but not the deletion of the Google account.
Still hasn't cured it unfortunately, which is why I suspect I need to reinstall Android from scratch.
Does that seem a reasonable conclusion? There is not a lot of system storage left even though I have cleared out as many programs as I could. Of course, if Play Store works it starts automatically updating existing apps and filling up the storage again :-(0 -
yes reboot your device , clear cashe and delvic cashe if possible and do a reinstall , when it restarts sign in .
when you reload , thee old version of playstore will be there , but it will update0 -

Thanks. What's a 'delvic cashe' and reinstall what?
Also deleting the Google account seems to have wiped out my most used contacts - how to get them back?0 -
your recent contacts were saved on your google account , not your sim or phone , when you sign back in , they will re appear, when I said reboot your device I was referring to doing a full factory reinstall , on my note 1 (n7000) its vol up home and power
wipe data/factory rest and wipe cashe partition
takes about 5 mins and your phone is as "factory new" , then just sign back into google email0 -
Thanks.
Well, the thing is that the contacts haven't reappeared - I wanted to make sure that sort of thing was correctly saved first of all.
Vol Up Home and Power - OK. So then how will I get back to Android 4.1.2 from a factory reset and how do I make sure all my contacts and calendar stuff is backed up. Vital to do that.0 -
the note came with 4.1.2 , so it will reinstall it , contacts "should" be in your google account , cannot help with the calendar tho0

On a samsung tablet your details may be sync'd to a samsung account if you created one in addition to a google account. I think S Planner uses a samsung account by default if available.
There is a backup and restore option in the general settings0
