I think, in your shoes, and with September's payment due date falling a bit earlier than 'normal', I'd have paid more attention to the following month's statement.
You could call them and grumble, and may get some goodwill (£12 refunded, etc), but I fear any late payment marker on your credit file will stay.0 -
It sounds as though Barclaycard have moved from monthly statements to statements every 4 or 5 weeks instead that are due for payment on a Monday
I would hope they gave you notice but maybe you missed it through not looking that carefully at your statements
Fair and honourable? Don't see why not. Things are not set in concrete forever
A 'ploy'? That sounds unduly paranoid. More likely a side effect of something done for other reasons0 -
Like you, I'm usually perfect but I'm a human being and let down my guard for once. I wasn't trying to milk anything (a suggestion I find quite insulting) and I do have the money to pay the account.
Anyway, enough of the 'feedback'...what have Barclaycard said when you called and mentioned your concerns to them?0 -

It was the 6 days earlier than usual, entirely out of the blue, that I was questioning.
Routine has always worked for me in the past and yes I could get up to speed, update my technology, improve my memory, spend all day glued to my banking activities, and set up a DD, but do we all have to become smart automatons to get by in today's society. What about the elderly and vulnerable people in society? How do they cope with clever institutions? We are the clients - institutions are there to ultimately serve us. Banks haven't exactly proved themselves to be honorable over recent years. I thought this forum was for people to express their concerns and experience with institutions not for people to demonstrate how clever they are and pass trite judgement.0 -
That really wasn't the point.I thought this forum was for people to express their concerns and experience with institutions...

Again, because I'm interested in the outcome, what have Barclaycard said when you called? Posting it here could help others in your situation.0
