Barclaycard payment due date

I went to pay my October statement at the end of the month following my normal routine and I was shocked to find that I had missed the due date. The due date was 27th October- 6 days earlier than usual.
Looking back through my statements the due date has been on the 1st of the month every month until September when it was the 29th.
The November statement is due for payment on 1st December.
I cannot help but think this is a ploy to catch people out and accrue late payment charges and interest from people who pay off their balance every month.
Is this fair and honorable practice?

It happens a lot with all cards in my experience, but never catches me out because a) I have a DD set up (and there's always adequate funds available), and b) when I get a statement I read it!
I think, in your shoes, and with September's payment due date falling a bit earlier than 'normal', I'd have paid more attention to the following month's statement.
You could call them and grumble, and may get some goodwill (£12 refunded, etc), but I fear any late payment marker on your credit file will stay.0 -
Barclaycard will text you in good time to avoid this if you want...

It sounds as though Barclaycard have moved from monthly statements to statements every 4 or 5 weeks instead that are due for payment on a Monday
I would hope they gave you notice but maybe you missed it through not looking that carefully at your statements
Fair and honourable? Don't see why not. Things are not set in concrete forever
A 'ploy'? That sounds unduly paranoid. More likely a side effect of something done for other reasons0 -
...that are due for payment on by a Monday
People shouldn't see it as a target to achieve. You've generally got 3 weeks or so from statement date, and if you really want to milk every last day of interest free credit (and then some...due to weekends & Bank Holidays) then the only way to guarantee* that is to pay by DD.
* Obviously you need to plan accordingly and have the funds ready in the current account.0 -
In the past I have found that they shift the monthly due date a couple of times a year without warning and, as far as I can see, for no good reason.0

I get my statement and pay my CC by using my Bank's 'make a payment' option for the amount I choose (always the full amount, but...) and the date for the payment to be sent... Then sit back and forget it (as there's always enough money in the account to pay it).
In the olden days that was 3-4 banking days before the due date... now with faster payments I always make it one banking day before it --- and Barclaycard (now) always e-mail me thanking me for the payment the next day (banking day or not). I could probably get away with paying ON the due day but why risk it?
DD is not essential but may be easier for many0 -
Not so.

Example: If the payment due by date on my credit card is Sunday 24th December, my DD will be collected on Wednesday 27th December (but I'll generally need to have funds available at close of business on the preceding Friday 22nd December).
Now when would you send your FP to pay your credit card? I'd suggest you'd be paying early on Friday at the latest? Side issue...if I'm paying from a 5% paying current account I've made a few bob in the process.0 -
