Well to quote you in an earlier post to me, I have actually read the link.
To further educate you, these poles are installed within the window and provide the load bearing capability that wood has but plastic doesn't.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

But did the op originally ask about them?0 -
no he didnt but if you read the post the op first of all has doubts about lintels and goes on to say the company have to come back to fit a bay to which i say if its load bearing make sure they use bay pole jacksFiremanDave wrote: »I know what a bay pole is thanks I have them fitted.

The OP originally asked a question about support for a window, eventually a window.
He would not have known what a bay pole was and as such needed the principle explained to him as I and the BWF have.
It's not what the Op asked but it is what he needed to know.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Some OPs get cross when posters point out relevant stuff that isn't exactly what they asked.cyclonebri1 wrote: »It's not what the Op asked but it is what he needed to know.
I'm _not_ one of those OPs.
This all goes to help my understanding, which can only be a good thing...0 -
Silly question, probably, but surely the old windows had a lintel above them?0

the lintel wont be holding up the bricks, they will be holding up the roof above the bricks.GC Jan £431.490/£480.00  £48.51 under budget!0 -

And if it is a cavity wall construction the roof is bearing onto the inner leaf, which is probably blockwork. It is here where there is a dire need for a lintel - the bricks need supporting but they are a red herring in the issue that has been raised.0 -

A lintel is designed to carry brickwork and various other structural items above openings ie windows and doors .It is an offence for any installer to install new windows or door and not install a lintel if one is required no matter how many courses of brick simples building regulations a http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/BR_PDF_AD_A_2004.pdf .if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0
