Perhaps I should have been more specific, though I was frightened/embarrassed/horrified to write it down as it made it seem real. He was actually wanting to ‘end it all’:(. He said we would all be happier without him because we hate him and are always mean to him

We had this with DS2 when he was 18 and it worried us to death. Is it worth taking him to the doctor and seeing if any type of counselling is available? I know it's hormones, but teenagers can be very unhappy sometimes and get things out of proportion.
I don't mean to worry you. It's just a suggestion so feel free to ignore me.

Thanks Hairy. I’m a big fan of Counselling- it really helped me iron out lots of unresolved issues. For some reason DS1 sees it as something bad, so is refusing to consider it at the moment. He seems ok just now, but I will force the issue if it all flares up again. I don’t want him to know lots of the things I faced in the past, so it’s hard to convince him how good Counselling can be if I can’t give him examples
.
DH is being odd tonight. He is still very wavy and is never ‘right’ when that happens, but he is also struggling to explain himself or get the right words and he keeps complaining his wrists feel weird. He’s very moody and snappy too. Can’t wait til bed time.

I would be in bed already if I thought I wouldn’t just lie there listening out for him having a seizure

I'd keep a close eye on him and force the issue if need be. Teenagers can get distraught over things that seem trivial to us. I rate counselling too. I had some after my sister died and it really helped.
I agree with Beanie, go to bed early and have a nice hot bath and read in bed.

Does he have someone at school he could talk too? I refused counselling too until it was forced. However I did have a teacher at school who I felt I could trust enough. I'm not saying he can't talk to you
I always worry it will come across wrong.
Hope Mr Lucky is feeling better today and you got some sleep

It never comes across ‘wrong’ Wannabe, thank you for your imput, it’s always welcome Xx
DH was a bit better yesterday, but has gone downhill again today. He says he keeps ‘shaking with fear’ and I’m not sure if that’s what he means or if he’s got the wrong word as he usually says ‘wavy’. He keeps having half a conversation in his head and then the other half out loud, and then gets annoyed when I don’t know what he’s talking about.
