  • DS1 had his top braces fitted today :T. He is complaining about them being uncomfortable but we were warned it would be painful for up to a week :(. We have a long list of dos and don'ts to adhere to now.

I'm afraid his mouth will be tender for a day or so. Soup is definitely his friend right now and for any day immediately after they're tightened.

Even when his mouth isn't so tender, sweet corn, especially on the cob, is out. Such a nuisance to try and get all the bits out from the braces. Chewy sweets aren't a good idea either.

Temporary pain now. Straight teeth later on.

Hope he's not feeling too badly.

Both of my kids had braces. Worth it in the end Ibguess but strange how no one used to have them when I was young unless they had crooked teeth. So are kid's teeth getting more crooked, are we becoming obsessed with having perfect straight teeth or are the orthodontists cashing in?

  • Evening all, thanks for stopping by. Cheers for all the braces advice and support. DS1 stayed off school yesterday as his mouth ached, but he seems much better today. I agree with SA that lots of kids seem to have braces these days, but alas for DS1 they were very much needed as his teeth are very big and had grown higgeldy piggeldy as they didn't have enough room. He's had 4 teeth removed so hopefully there's enough room for them to be manoeuvred straight.

DH has continued to be fuzzy/vague/woolly for most of the week. He's devoid of energy and missing a spark. I almost cancelled a night out with friends last night, but decided to risk it, as it was already paid for and it was our Christmas night out. I'm pleased I went as we had a fab time and DH didn't have any seizures while I was away.

This afternoon DS2 had a friends' football birthday party. It was fab right until 20 minutes before the end when he crashed in to the birthday boy and DS2 bumped his head really hard :(. He was stunned and all the colour drained from his face while a large egg developed on his forehead. We were given an ice pack and I honestly thought it was going to be an A&E job. Rang work and said I wasn't coming in which they were great about, and brought him home for Calpol. He gradually said he felt better so we didn't go to A&E and we've snuggled on the sofa most of the evening.

  • Afternoon PLMBL,

So glad you didn't have to cancel your Christmas night out. Oh no to DS2 though hope he's ok x

  • Hi mummy, he's surprisingly ok today. Bump is quite well hidden by his fringe, but is quite a nice light blue colour rather than the horrible black/blue I was expecting.

Not been too far today. Had to go food shopping (again :() as I can't seem to fill DH up at the minute. Then called in to my Mum's as she had my Grandma over for lunch, so it was good to see them both at once.

Feeling the pinch moneywise this week. All bills AND car tax due .

So lovely having Grandma to visit,

I had two lovely Grandma's, close to my maternal one especially, so much unconditional love.

    Happy memories x

Having four teeth extracted was enough for mine to be straight (after braces).

Sorry to hear about DS2. Hope he's on the mend.
