Gaming already has got some big names to boast about, Martin Sheen, Max Von Sydow and Christopher Plummer to name a few. They've been in some of my favourite games

GTA has had Ray Liotta, Samuel L Jackson, etc.
Gaming is already pretty mainstream though!Hi. I'm a Board Guide on the Gaming, Consumer Rights, Ebay and Praise/Vent boards. Agreed, big conventions like E3 get lots of coverage, there's gaming magazines for sale along side every other magazine in places like WHSmith and many adverts and things in various media.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

I think gaming went mainstream a long while ago, well over 10 years ago to be perfectly honest - Kevin Spacey isn't even the biggest star in a game this year! (well, IMHO, I'd consider Keifer Sutherland to be a bigger star and he's frickin Snake!)
It's grown into something massively more popular these days though, you know it's huge when you have kids who'll rhyme off 3-4 different YouTube gaming folks. But I think the turning point definately came when games started garnering attention with regards to their content - particularly stuff like Manhunt & the GTA series after GTA 3 for example. There's also the mere fact that games have been translated into movies for years (Tomb Raider, Resident Evil to name but two) & stars have been putting their voices to games since realistic sound was introduced.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
Check out the cast of Privateer 2. What was that, 1999?Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
John Cleese, Steven Fry, Billie-Dee Williams, Elijah Wood, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Ellen Paige, Mark Hamill, George Takei, Liam Neeson, Sean Bean, Patrick Stewart, Seth Green...all voicing in games for years now.
The gaming industry worth has exceeded the music and movie industries (combined) several times over the years so I can't see why Kevin Spacey would make any difference, if anything he is getting into it for that reason.0 -
gaming has been "mainstream" for a few decades....0
