Got a update for you all. The gods must of been looking over me, I've been given a Speed Awareness Course and because the other offence was in close proximity of time, no further action has been taken. So basically I do the sac and have no points at all or I pay the fine and get 3points!

Get on the course before they change their mind. It's even cheaper than a ticket where I live.

    A good outcome then.

I too would take the course.

I remember a thread a couple of months back where there was a big discussion because someone said they would rather pay the fine and take the points, as it was cheaper than taking a day off work for the course.

It takes all sorts I suppose, but to me having a clean licence is more important than a days pay, as I reckon my insurance premiums might well increase.

Depends how much you earn and how much you need the money.

Think he said he was 18. His wage won't be that high compared to a possible insurance rise. Plus three points is half way to revocation.

    Nice one :)
Edit: What if I !!!!! my finger.....
  • do the course and don't forget you can't have another one. In addition, your black box measures your breaking as well, so you must be slamming on the brakes before a 30. If you get money back for driving well, then keep this is in mind too. Hope this is a good warning to you, slow down and keep to the limit, it may seem slow but it is there for a reason. You will be much safer on the roads now. hopefully.

Not unless its for careless or using the phone. Mad isn't it? Allowed one of each every three years.

This happened to me, 70mph to 40mph, I was slowing down but there was a mobile camera van thing literally 100yds down the road hidden behind a bridge.

I think I was about 45-46mph when I went past it. I never heard a peep from them. I always think its a bit harsh if its right after a drop in speed limits... but hey ho the rules are in place for a reason.

You could do what jim davidson said.... I was only speeding once, I never slowed down.

I like the countdown to speed limits that you see sometimes. They give you a 3,2,1, before the actual limit sign. Useful on unfamiliar roads/blind bends. I also like when they take you from 60 to 50 or 40 before a 30, instead of straight from 60 to 30.
