I'm setting myself the target of reducing the balance by 10k next year. Regular payments make up £4070.69 so just £5929.31 to find, broken down to £494.11 per month.

That's almost perfect with a £500 OP limit per month so we are within the limits. It's not going to be easy, but we're never going to get the forever home if we don't try.

Christmas first and then I'll be knuckling down before the New Year. The decluttering is continuing so hopefully that will help towards the OP's

I hope you all had a great Christmas. Ours has been lovely. I've almost found a home for all the presents. The big declutter starts tomorrow!

I have reminded myself in the last few days why I don't like Eb8y but needs must. I am listing on there and the local FB selling sites to rid the house of some clutter.

The good thing about Xmas is that no food shopping needs doing and there is plenty to snack on :rotfl:
  • Im going to subscribe to your diary and good luck with your forever home dream! I'm with you on turning the dream into reality we are pretty much in the same situation as yourselves in that we are overpaying as much as possible to build up the equity so that we can buy our forever home. We've learnt that the backburner is no place for our plans and so im starting the new year as a 'new me'. I even started a diary on here yesterday.

Will look forward to reading your updates :)

Thanks for popping in daisydoop I like your sentiment about plans not being achieved on the back burner.

Two things have sold on the bay of e today for a little more than I thought they would which is a nice surprise so they will go out on Monday. It's inspired me to list more during the de cluttering that is my house at the moment.

Three more Eb8y parcels posted today, so withdrew £28.14 from PP and paid straight off the mortgage.

I only need £65.36 to go down to the next £1k bracket on the higher mortgage

As part of my de cluttering house technique and reducing my wife's spending we did a great deal. We agreed that whatever money she made through selling her our stuff on eBay she could use for her own spending. After a few months it really worked for both parties. For me it took stuff out of the house and reduced spend on clothes/make up etc... For my wife she viewed it as 'free money' to buy things without the worry of spending what we didn't have.
Any of my things sold I overpay from paypal account and we thrown any money from kids sales towards christmas and/or birthdays. So we've found a good way for eBay to work for us all!
    MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......

It's all about what works isn't it. I have been using all my ebay profits and chucking them straight to the mortgage. If it sits around too long, I find another use for the money.

Another £50.77 sent across today. Just £15 to get to the next £1k bracket on the bigger mortgage.

Managed a payment of £115 today which was from some additional freelance work, some eb8y sales and a FB sale. In the £66k's now on the big mortgage.

I am going to focus on decluttering the house and when it's at a saleable standard with only items left here that we want to take with us, I'm going to reasess the sums and see if the time is right to move.

Managed another £46 OP yesterday. This brings January's OP's to £238.89 which is good for a January.

Still decluttering very slowly, but making sure things leave the house.
