Well done on the decluttering! I'm with you on trying to get quotes for stuff. It's so hard these days!

I think the quote thing feeds into the male "hunter" part - they go out and do the hunting - but don't actually follow through! Have had many quotes for work here - then the work never actually gets done. One carpenter did an excellent job - quoted over the phone with pictures - turned up on time and did a lovely job and I paid him there and then in cash. Asked for quotes again for more work - never came back to me - or said he would pop round and never did. I fail to understand.
Hope you enjoyed that Easter Egg☺️
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
Unfortunately this is going to be a growing problem. Making tax digital starting in April is making some self employed go back into employment. Which of course was the plan. I suspect that rather than make people pay direct into accounts it is going to lead to an awful lot more cash in hand.

It’s new car day on Friday. Nervous.

It's not just the making the process digital, its also because they have moved the payment period SE people seem to be paying a LOT more tax in a very short time period - Mr KK has been brassic for months because of it!
Good luck Beanie. What is it that is making you nervous?

I don’t deal with change well I have driven exactly the same cars for 9 years. After all the hassle with the hire cars about 4 years ago I lost my confidence completely.

Take it slowly and gently. Ask the garage to take you out for a test drive where they drive first and then you do - start your part of the driving somewhere easy like a quiet residential road (NOT trying trying to manoeuvre out of a busy garage forecourt!).
There are bound to be different whistles and bells. Ask them to explain all the controls and especially the key ones like lights, indicators, windscreen wipers, emergency flashers etc.You are a solid, competent driver. Having a new car does not wipe out your years of experience of driving - it's just about getting familiar with the controls of the new car.
Oh, and ask them about disabling any features you don't like such as traction control - that always scares the bee-what-sit out of me! Had it on a hire car once when my old bus 'failed to proceed' and absolutely hated it! 😉

I’ve had a test drive. All very different now as they don’t come out with you anymore!

Well you have obviously survived. I think that is easier as you aren't feeling them sitting next to you criticising your driving. I think that is a woman thing too.

How did you find all the controls etc?
