Ring doorbells are fine but I think you have to pay them extra each month -like a subscription.
there are other types that seem better. The one I have heard of is Eufy but I have no idea of costs4 -

Hopefully the police will keep a watch out in your area for a while. It’s time they started taking more preventative measures rather than just turning up after the event. This is why the crime rate is rising everywhere there’s no deterrent.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Signs to say CCTV and beware of the dog (even if they didn't have one) as we had a few instances up the street where cars had been broken into and doors tried.
