If I cannot pay my mortgage. then I cant afford private rent.
There is just about zero social housing here.
My house has been adapted for me.
I have previously had a dire situation with the DWP which is why I am now so wary.
My anxiety levels are high.

Do you get any help with your mortgage? I know some people are eligible for help with the interest.
You're so close to being mortgage free and that will take some of the pressure off.
There will always be help available for those who cannot work, that's the whole point of the system. Unfortunately it's only ever the "bad news" that gets thrown around and you always hear the horror stories because people don't shout about the good service they've had in these situations.
DH transitioned from DLA to PIP last year, he'd only ever been given a 2 year award at a time previously but with his medical evidence they've gone for a 6 year award this time. It was seemless and fairly quick, of course there was still the stress whilst you're waiting for it all to be finalised but if they'd have said "no" then he would have fought for what he deserves. It shouldn't have to be so hard and so stressful but most things in life are.
You've got so much to be thankful for, you need to concentrate on the positives in your life and let the worries go a little."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.1 -
No help with mortgage.
All paid for by me.
Anyway, will leave it there as I think it is very difficult for people to understand it all & my reaction to it. Right. I am going to say it.
I am not coping at the moment.
:grouphug:I was out with friends for coffee yesterday and started crying.
Poor DS phoned today and I started crying.
:grouphug:Can people please tell me that if I have to sell my house or have no car it will be ok.
It won't come to that. If you were to lose your house, you'll be on the State's budget, and the State doesn't like that. The State would far rather you lived impoverished on your own resources and have a house to pay for old-age care than any other outcome.
So stop worrying.
Besides, if you can see the future that clearly, could you tell me the numbers of the next lottery draw? TaVeryMuchly...

I understand your concerns especially given you've had a bad experience previously. However, as someone who worked in and around benefits for 12 years, i can clearly see that quite often bad experiences were due to people making mistakes. There's no reason to assume that these will recur. Also, as others have pointed out, you do have a recognised medical condition that is more easily understood by administrative processors. Try not to get so upset, you'll only make yourself worse and then what would we do without you?

We do understand you are worrying and anxious about everything - instead of agreeing with you, it is our job as the Beanie Tribe to bolster you up and speak positively and tell you not to worry.
I work in benefits and debt advice and I see people worrying all the time. 'Luckily' I understand mental health a lot better than some others in my line of work so am empathic with people.
One of my clients has schizophrenia which is very well managed, every time he comes to see me we discuss at great length if and when he will lose his benefits, if he has to start work how he would manage etc - this can go on for ages and although he seems to understand at the next appointment we repeat it.
He has some capital (over £10k but under £16k) and he always thinks he will be homeless within the next month or 2.
I am currently trying to persuade him to look at sheltered accommodation - he rents a 2 bed flat privately and has to top up his rent by nearly £200 so it would be cheaper to go into social sheltered housing. He seemed keen on the idea so I will mention each time I see him until it becomes his idea and then I would put the wheels in motion.
Are you on any medication for your anxiety? If you aren't can you get to the GP and get some and if you are can you get your dosage increased?
