    I do try.
But I just worry in case my income decreases.
The reality is I cannot work. I am not a scrounger but that is how I am made to feel.

It's a sad situation - I can understand DWP wanting to weed out those that have been taking advantage for far too long, shame it's at the expense of the genuine cases. I'm sure you'll be fine Beanie, you have nothing to hide, you're one of the genuine ones xx

Hi Beanie - sorry you are feeling so low at the moment. I know its hard but try and focus on the present. The meditation sounds as if it's helping you.

    Take care x

I worry about the future for disabled people.

This is understandable but pointless. If you want to do something you need to act but not to worry. Just try your best to get through each day and try to find ways to manage your pain (very very easy for me to say Beanie!)

You have reminded me today that I need to write to my MP about the motability scheme and the problems of a 6 month reprieve following a negative decision.

The conservatives, not so much the nasty party but more the party who systematically have it in for the disabled, sick and disadvantaged. Just appalling!

Right. I am going to say it.
I am not coping at the moment.
I was out with friends for coffee yesterday and started crying.
Poor DS phoned today and I started crying.

Can people please tell me that if I have to sell my house or have no car it will be ok.

Of course it will be ok. There's plenty of people living in social housing or privately renting that fear the same, you'd at least have a cushion of equity to use if the worst happened.

As for the car, again, if you can't afford to buy one then you'd have to use public transport or use volunteer schemes. We had to do just this before DH was put on the motability scheme. Yes you have to cut down the social trips and only make the essential journeys but there's a lot of people in that position and they cope.

Why do you feel your money would be cut? You have a justifiable need for your disability payments, you've got recognised medical conditions with a history of need that I'm assuming your GP and specialists would back up.

Those that have problems with their payments seem to have had issues with handing forms in on time, not supplying the correct evidence and not having the backing of their doctors. Of course I do appreciate there are others that have had their payments stopped but when there is a real need with evidence then they tend to get sorted on appeal.

You need to concentrate on making yourself worry less, it's not helpful to your stress and health. Make the steps you can to make yourself "future proof" so paying off the mortgage, having the lodger etc are all great steps in this but maybe look at whether downsizing into a flat maybe an option to give you a comfort blanket of savings should you need it.

What's your pension provision like? Are you already claiming on ill health grounds if you've got a pension pot? We claimed DHs last year as it was clear that he's not going to work again, a quick clarification letter from the GP and his specialists confirmed that and the lump sum and monthly payments are invaluable now to help us clear the mortgage and get ourselves into a better position.

No one wants to think of big life style changes but you've got a huge way to go before you're penniless on the streets and there are back up systems in place within the benefits system to help you, providing you do what's required, when it's required and fight your corner when you have to.

You will be fabulous because you've got a whole army of us behind you. X
