Hope you manage to sort something. It seems ridiculous that there's no grant scheme for something that is a new requirement"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

I mean I live in a wee bungalow, I don't need another smoke alarm & a heat alarm.
The only thing that worries me is the house insurance.
Mind you when I got the latest quote it did not ask about smoke or heat alarms!I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. I heard that the insurance companies were allowing leeway on meeting the requirements as there was so little warning of the cost and also, the alarms were really hard to get hold of with both the rush and lockdown. But I suspect if they want to be awkward, they could argue that the requirement to keep in good repair includes meeting all legal obligations.I thought there was a grant scheme at some point?Debt free May 2016... It just pushes my buttons that all the socia housingl tenants got them free & just need to snap their fingers & they seem to get all their repairs done.
Just because I own a house goes not mean I have any blooming money!!There's definitely battery powered ones that meet the requirements so if it's half the cost I'd go for those. No easy answers on the owning vs renting.
