Moneywise things are challanging too & very draining.
I got a quote to replace the broken extracter fan in then bathroom & it was nearly £300 quid!!
The quote for the smoke & heat things that are now law in Scotland was £400+.
DS has started his first placement.
S is fine.

If it’s law to have these safety features there should be a grant to help people 😡 Where do these politicians think people are going to magic up the money from.

Beanie, do you need to have your alarms mains powered - is that part of the cost? I bought linkable ones but they are battery powered, which kept the cost down as it avoid having an electrician in (you would still need someone to put them up, but that's less time and hassle than new wiring). A quick Google found me packs of alarms for a 3 bed house for just under £200.
