Our local council charge per item but once a year they do an amnesty and they'll collect up to 6 items free of charge.
That's good.

If you live in the city council area of where I am you get all your rubbish cleared for free all year round plus your garden waste bin is free. I live in a borough council area and have to pay £36 a year for the garden bin and apart from the annual amnesty pay for other rubbish removal. The nearest council tip is miles away and we don't have transport. I didn't have much picked up on the recent amnesty as the stuff I want to get rid of is too good to go to landfill.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

The advantage of living in flats is that we have a communal waste area where the bins live - and you can leave anything in there and the council sigh deeply, and come and take it away for nothing.

I always read your posts in my head with your Scottish accent Beanie - ever since I heard your real voice.
I love accents too - quite a mix in our family as we’re spread about. Northern, Yorkshire, Irish and Southern. I could listen all day especially to the little ones.January spends - £587.581 -
