ANYONE ELSE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS SITE?
I swear I did a huge post yesterday!!! It seems to have disappeared.
I have updated my signature and we have paid some money off the furniture, I have set up a Standing order to OH seeing as car insurance for last year is now paid off, and OH still hasnt asked for money for my phone bill, I am paying him £50 a month, this means we will be able to get the furniture paid off ASAP.
We have managed to sell our old glass furniture through OH's work (he has access to the student memo boards because the hotel he works at is on the uni campus and the company is a branch off from the uni), so thats another £75, I have a lady collecting some curtains on Friday and paying £25 cash, avoids ebay and paypal fees again :rotfl:
We have discovered today that OH has been paying an x8ox live subscription for me since October 2013, £5.99 a month  The bank card the payments have been taken from expired in March 2014 so the payments should have stopped then I think?! We need to look into it, as the subscription automatically renewed even though the card was expired?
Anyway, at hospital this afternoon so must dash off and get ready.0 -
I hope you can get a refund for some of that money! I think I remember something similar happening to me though and a company renewed automatically from an expired card. I can't remember the excuse they use but as I caught it pretty quickly, they refunded me the money. Good Luck.
Hope everything goes ok at the hospital.

Thanks October, this is reassuring, I'll definitely get him to call microsoft and query it, wasnt sure if he'd need to query with the bank or microsoft. It clearly states on the payment details that the card is expired.
Hospital went well, a doctor who told me the things I needed to know and actually listened to me! Woop. Back at hospital tomorrow. Actually looking forward to a quiet day where I can just sit and read my book :rotfl:0 -
I am so looking forward to the weekend. I don't know why but this week has seemed really tiring!
Enjoy a quiet day Mrs T!

Is this all back up and running ok now? I lost a huge post with all my frugal finds!
Last weekend I bought a black jumpsuit in Newl00k, the stitching was coming away slightly so I took it back to swap it, and there wasnt another one in my size, so the lady on the till spoke with her manager and they gave me £5 off so it was only £14.99 :j. I also bought two necklaces, got them to the till and realised they were buy one get one free, so I got them both for £10. Happy days.
Then I ventured in to boots and saw my favourite Soap and Glory body wash on the bargain shelf, the pump was broken off so it was £4 instead of £6.50, so I bought it. The pump still works ok, and because I'd saved £5 on the jumpsuit I thought I'd treat myself, with still 99p change from what I'd budgeted. :T I love the S&G stuff, but I just can't justify the cost anymore, I usually ask for it as xmas and birthday gifts.
The student from OH's work has collected the old furniture today, and the lady has also collected the curtains, so we're £100 better off.
ALTHOUGH, we have been quite spendy.
We picked up some cheap canvas pictures for on the stairs yesterday, they were 3 for £20, really nice marvel watercolour style pictures, that will look awesome when they're up.
I also had a lot of clubcard vouchers saved up, and I got an email from tesco saying that clubcard boost was available to use on tesco direct and electrical goods. So, as OH had sold the wii U, and he's had a pay rise at work, I suggested he use the money from the wii U, to put towards a PS4, and use clubcard boost on the vouchers to get some money off. He said he isnt looking at using it yet, but with the cash he has and the saving from the vouchers, it will be cheaper to get it now.
So we managed to get a PS4, and a second control pad (and the new book I've wanted to ages) for £326 total.
I KNOW we didnt need it, or budget for it, but we saved £60 just using the clubcard vouchers, and OH had £150 from the wii u sale, so really he only had to put £170 towards it, plus it means we will already have the console when the game he wants comes out.
I'm justifying it by using the logic that we don't go out at weekends, we rarely do anything such as weekends away etc, and we spend a lot of time playing games, and we both enjoy it.
I still have money in the bank, the furniture account balance is still going down, so I'm happy!!0 -
We've sold some more items :T Got a guy coming to collect some shelves tomorrow, got £10.50 for those, paying cash on collection (no paypal fees
) Also sold two other shelves, but the buyer lives quite a way from me and I did state collection only, will see if he contacts me and if I've not heard anything by Monday I'll send him a message.
Sold two old ikea lamps too, 99p each but its better than nothing :rotfl:
Sold some fridge magnets for £2.33.
And I've got bidding activity on a few more items but the listings are still open.
Will report back tomorrow with all of the totals.
Anything I've not sold I'm going to take to the charity shop, I've listed everything on three (some items four!) selling sites, so I at least tried. One item has been listed so many times now its not even funny!
At least its out of the spare room, we have a bit more cash, and I can get the room finally finished.0 -
Listed 22 more items for sale today whilst OH is at work, now ironing  the sun is shining beautifully though so might venture for a walk when OH gets back from work.0

Hi all. Posted some items today that I sold on ebay (one of them contacted me and arranged a private sale, so I removed the listing to avoid fees. I know this is really naughty!) The postage cost me £5.99 each item so I need to be more careful with pricing my postage, the parcels were medium parcels not small. Fortunately I am not out of pocket, but I have adjusted all of the charges on my remaining items to definitely cover the cost, and also the cost of packing aswell as I never think about that.
This selling stuff is way too complicated!
So I don't know if I mentioned my plans to have a birthday party, but OH has booked it at work for January, I've been getting a couple of quotes and although the place he works at is really nice, its really expensive, even with his discount. The local Uni have a student union venue that you can hire that is a lot cheaper and includes a DJ in with the price, but the venue is obviously not as nice as a 4* hotel, so I'm not really sure what to do now. The price difference is nearly £500 which is a no brainer to me, but OH said I've been talking about having a party for ages and should make the most of it.
In the meantime, I've found a really good deal for us to go away at Christmas, 4 nights in Amsterdam, including flights for £407. (total price) OH is saying we can't afford it, and when will I stop looking for holidays and things we can't afford!!! BUT he wants me to have the more expensive party at his work which I definitely cant afford (at least £1200).
I'm so tempted to book the Amsterdam trip and just not bother with the birthday party at all, I have always wanted to go away at Christmas, and with my niece getting older I wouldnt want to go next year as it will be all exciting for her. I don't know how to convince OH though, as we do need to renew our passports, get travel insurance and spending money etc, but with it being christmas and my birthday in January, I'm happy to have money towards it as my birthday present (the big 3-0). I'm so torn, as I have said since last year that I was going to have a party for my big birthday, but I didnt realise how expensive they are.
Really not sure what to do. At this rate I'll be doing neither because I just feel so deflated. We just spent £300 on a PS4 (which we didnt need!!) so OH could have it now whilst we have Tesco vouchers that we can put towards it, but now we can't afford to save for something in 5 months in the future:mad:
I think I'm being totally unreasonable, but I just want to DO SOMETHING MEMORABLE. And I think being in Amsterdam for Christmas is as memorable as it can get! (OH has already been, I havent, and its on my wishlist).
I know you will all talk sense in to me, but I just feel so deflated and 'whats the point'.
Anyway, off to update signature and check the ebay bids. Its my day off tomorrow, so hopefully I can get some rest and stop being so ungrateful!
Oh, and to give me something else to whine about today, I've been locked out of my PayPal account for trying the incorrect password too many times  I wanted to transfer the money across to savings.0 -

Hi AleMrsT
Just caught up on your diary! Pleased your sales are going well! I on the other hand still haven't sent my CDs to MM, Zaffit etc! Naighty me!
Re party - I'm throwing my mum a surprise birthday party tomorrow night (well dads paying!). We're just having it in the skittle alley at a local pub so no where special. But it's costing £300 for a buffet for 40 people, £160 for DJ and £70 for a special bingo style cake (mum loves bingo!). So £530 in total - which is still a fair amount. But what is more important - celebrating with your friends and family, or celebrating somewhere fancy with your friends and family?! My mum has no idea and will be so completely shocked as it is very unlike my dad to do this (well I say that - he said "I want to throw mum a surprise party, I'll pay" and then I've arranged everything else!)Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0
