4.5 in summer for us and an absolutely ancient 10.5 for winter that has a bit of weight to it , heating kept turned down in bedrooms and goes off at 8 at the latest in the winter , windows open unless its too windy and blows the curtains too much !
I can't bear being too hot in bed - it just = no sleep !!0 -
ended up ordering a Baavet instead, a far more reasonable price than a down duvet.
Just waiting for it to be delivered, will post back what I think of it.0 -
I have one of those combined winter summer ones, and I think it is 4.5 and 9.0. I leave both on all year
Tonight my super new electric mattress cover arrived....cant wait to go to bed and be warm0 -
Have you looked at alternates than Duvet?
I used to be a duvet person till I stumbled on Merino wool Blanket.
I have not looked back to Duvets once I stated using them.
A Bit expensive to buy - but you dont need any duvet cover and no washing required and it maintains temperatures better.
No feeling of being roasted and sweating; feels warm during very cold spells.
The initial cost would be around £50-90“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu
System 1 - 14 x 250W SunModule SW + Enphase ME215 microinverters (July 2015)
System 2 - 9.2 KWp + Enphase IQ7+ and IQ8AC (Feb 22 & Sep 24) + Givenergy AC Coupled inverter + 2 * 8.2KWh Battery (May 2022) + Mitsubishi 7.1 KW and 2* Daikin 2.5 KW A2A Heat Pump0 -

Ditto!
Even during the last week there have been some nights I've had to sleep with no clothes on (TMI, sorry) under a 4.5 as I was way too hot0 -

isn't a Baavet (crap name btw) just a big merino wool blanket, isn't wool wool or is merino so different?0 -
Not sure what type of wool Baavet is made of. But all I know is merino is one of the softest wool and has excellent temperature regulation properties.
I do have a few baselayers made of merino - can say they are fantastic and best of all you can wear them 24x7 for a good few weeks before any smell starts creeping (even if you sweat like a pig).
Back to the blanket
Prior to merino -the woolen blanket I had was really rough!!
You definitely do not get really warm and sweaty under merino.“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

the Baavet I've ordered is 475g weight so maybe not quite winter weight, will probably add a merino blanket too then if needed.
Btw just bought a merino baselayer, as I commute on a bike to work, not tried it out yet, sounds just the job, not needing to wash it for months is a bonus0 -
