moving to a property which uses virgin for tv/broadband etc and no phone line. tried to use the BT moving facility (i have broadband/vision/phone) and they want to charge me 130 quid for a new line. anyone know a way round this? we've been loyal customers for 30yrs and even worked for them. so this charge sounds ridiculous.

Use VM yourself or check other providers. I think I had a Plusnet line installed for £50 which, at the time, was covered by the cashback I got.0

It's a standard charge, you may be able to get it discounted or waived by signing up to a long contract (I did when I had a second line put in for dial-up internet use, many years ago) or some providers may provide bundle deals which include it - I don't know any examples though.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

The longer you commit to being a company's customer or take more than one service the more you can reduce the line installation fee, perhaps even to zero, if you take the cheapest line provider with a view to moving to another provider as soon as you can you would have to take any early termination fees into account0

BT retentions team and BT homemover team have been merged into one dept.
As you have all 3 services with BT they will offer you anything not to cancel including a free line connection as a minimum.
Call them on 0800 800 030 option 1.0 -
excellent spy hunter I was hoping so as we are all set up for BT and found it fine if a bit pricey.0

That is exactly what you need to say when you call. Say your happy with the service but unhappy with the price.
Don't just go for a free line connection, ask for a better deal overall.
Competition is crazy for phone, broadband and TV and you have all 3 so you are in the best position to haggle.
As you are a triple play customer BT will not want to let you go. (they make the most money from you)0 -
thanks again! was going over to virgin but they totally shafted a relation of mine and BT are always honest I find.0
