    It would wouldn't it.

I was thinking of paying £1,000 to Amex, leaving a balance of £1,000 - I pay £700 in per month to amex at the moment so a balance of £300ish allows £1,000 to be put towards other things - £200 for DH's sidecar project which he gave the go-ahead for without me yesterday :(
£300ish reserved for keeping up with some rust patches on the mini (if not needed then that can go to cc), and £500 potentially for caravan fund.
DH is changing employer this month and we have calculated he will receive £1,500 extra from untaken holiday which will make up the rest of the caravan budget. We will then sell the tent, although I don't know what that'll sell for.
Each month we have roughly £1,100 after direct debits to cover monthly spends such as fuel, groceries, vehicle bills, clothes etc etc. Fuel is usually £400.

Alternatively we could not consider buying a caravan and as you say, knock the stuffing out of the cards. It's not often that lump sums come along, as you can see our cash gravitates towards wheel based stuff.

Opinions welcomed. What would you do in my shoes?

Just read last post. As much as I want a holiday this year in our own caravan, paying off debt should be the priority. I guess the exaustion and depression makes tenting a less attractive holiday, I long for something better.

Yesterday's spends all essentials - cat litter, milk, bread, rice, apples. Redeemed small amounts of cash back from quidco and top cash back, and received £10 cash back from cap1.
Going out for mum's birthday lunch today, pizza express (apparently they cater for vegans), and I have £30 in oneforall gift cards I can use there, so no cash. Then, BIL is visiting for dinner later, so I'll do a big pot of curry.

My depression has been okay recently, I have taken extra medication around my monthly and it seemed to really help. I still have the tiredness and have napped for a few afternoons. I often feel the need to go back to bed after breakfast. I'm going to ask Dr for more iron tablets when I see him next, I have been very heavy the last few months. This month's period starts the same weekend that the in laws are visiting - nooooooo!

With a reduced balance I expect the interest on amex will halve.

I need those cc balances down.
I'm going to sell the mini. As much as I love it, I would prefer not to have cc debt. I think it will also feel a weight has been lifted. I simply can't afford sentimentality.
  • Good girl. You're making some great decisions. Will selling it free up some more of the cheque to go towards the credit cards.

It depends on whether or not I spend any money on the mini before I sell it; Dad says I don't need to as the rust is only in small areas.MOT is due September. I need to research the best place to sell it next. Is he worth £3,000? £4,000? That's the thing about minis, they vary so much and whilst this is a good one, it has 97k miles on the clock which is high for a mini.
