Prices wont drop. I work for a hotel group and look after group pricing and have one in Cardiff, although I will not say who
What you will find is there are rooms but not all released for sale yet. I would agree take a flexible rate and keep your eye on things but £118 for a Premier Inn for Rugby night doesnt seem too bad. There can often be 2 night stay restrictions also, which could be another reason you cannot find rooms.0 -
I booked the premier inn and will wait to see travelodge rates0

Try Penarth, Its a nice town on the coast just outside Cardiff, 10 mins on the train or £10-15 in a taxiJoovce, Joovce you want me to spell, it's a J, V, C.0

I know of one in Swansea but make sure you don't get the murder room.Nothing to see here, move along.0

Its a RWC match not a normal autumn one, so the hotels would be switched on to that and all hike the prices or be already booked by RWC tour organisers etc..
best bet to drift towards the outskirts to a b&b or try nearby towns...0 -
The Travelodge at Newport currently has £32 rooms for the date you want. It seems to be beside the train station with trains from Cardiff Central taking 12 minutes, with the last train leaving 15 mins before midnight and the fare seems to be £4.50. You could maybe do a google map search to see if there are any pubs to have your beers after the match. If there are a few if you going you could also price up the cab fare by doing a google search.
I just did a quick googlemap streetview check and the Travelodge is 2 mins walk from the train station and it has a big Whetherspoons pub opposite for cheap beers. It also seems just beside all the other pubs in the High Street area.0 -
Be warned if you go for the Swansea/Penarth/newport suggestions that arrangements at cardiff Central station mean you could probably walk to Penarth quicker than the time it would take to queue to get into the station and then get on a train. Quite a lot of the 72,000 people need to leave cardiff at some point after the match. It's complete chaos and lasts well into the night after a match.
I live 10 miles north of Cardiff and would probably book a hotel if I was going into Cardiff for a match rather than try and get home! :eek:Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Rooms out on traveldodge ..
Nearly £200 a night ..So I stick with the premier inn.0 -
whenever we go up to scotland for the 6nations the hotels go mad so we just short term rent an apartment or house around edinburgh or nearby, works out much cheaper usually, plus you get the comforts of a house and not just a small hotel room... you could always look into that option.. you can find some flats to rent about 1-2miles from the city centre for £70pn...0
