The speed bump in the small section may be there to slow motorbikes down.0 -

you'll always get those that know everything and never do anything wrong, clearly they would have been sat waiting for all the cars to come to keep the clear pedestrian pathway clear and would have spotted the dip in the road on both sides of a speed hump. Guess these are the same people that never hit poles either.....
I still dont think you'll get anything out of them though as I reckon they will say you shouldn't have crossed the solid white line, even though I would say that is an after thought and was probably only put there to satisfy some H&S officer who asked where the paths were?
I dont think i would be phoning the insurers either unless you are actually going to go through with making a claim, it might be worth getting your own quote tomorrow and go from thereEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

you mean pushchairs as motorcycles wouldn't be allowed in there either :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Its not illegal to cross the "edge of carriageway" marking. However people crossing it should be aware that the surface may not be to the same standard as the actual carriageway (thats why its marking the edge of it) - as the OP found out.0 -

Nope, they are called people that pay attention and understand the various road markings.0 -

Its either ok or its not lol
I said the white line indicates the edge of the carriageway. There's nothing wrong in crossing it but leaving the carriageway on the speed bump has resulted in damage. Had he done it at any other point or showed a bit of restraint it wouldn't have hampered. So his fault.
Oh and by the way it's you're.0 -

and that's the problem....if you don't cross that White line, no cars are passing you, there's not enough room. So reversing all the way back would be the only option, which as I said before, I don't consider to be a viable or realistic one tbh.
but yes, some people are perfect. I am not, although maybe 99% :rotfl:
The point of the post was to gain opinons, to see if it's something worth pursuing or not. I feel it's not worth the time and effort for what I hope will be £200-£300 of repair.
Thanks for your input :beer:0 -

You match your car now
Good luck with it - As it's marked off with a solid line and pic of a walker, I'd say chances are less than zero. Is just a bad set up of road, but is in their favour how it's done0 -

A picture of the damage may get you an idea of the cost I bet it will be double that.0
