I have been with vodafone for many many years and i upgraded my phone last december through carphone warehouse. My phone started dropping signal and then just stopped all together so i sent it off for repair about a week ago. only to get a txt from carphone warehouse to say it cant be repaired. so i called them to ask why and the reply i got was shocking co's its been blacklisted by orange ??? im not with orange im with vodafone ??? so i called orange who i must say were very rude and unhelpfull to be told we cant tell you anything your not our customer. after going round in circles they did comfirm when i gave them the imei number that yes they have blocked it as its been reported lost or stolen ??? errrr no i said it hasn't i have my receipt the box the imei number the transaction code everything to prove its my phone. orange wont help me at all or even admit this is probably a error on there part. carphone warehouse are unwilling to help and vodafone wont help each company is blaming eachother and im been punished for something i aint done. im at the end of my tether with it all as i feel powerless how can it be lost or stolen when i been using my phone for nearly a year. can anyone please offer any advice on what i should do seek legal action maybe ??? has this happened to anyone else ???

which means carphonewarehouse have sold you a phone which was lost or stolen and they are bloody responsible for this,go back to the same store and ask them to give you a replacement orelse further action will be taken for selling stolen goods to their customer.

You don't have to contact orange or vodafone as the phone was given by carphonewarehouse.
  • Yeah i'll give that a go as im at a loose end as to what to do. thankyou
  • Yeah thats what i said to carphone warehouse but there denying all responsability saying they dont sell stolen hansets and the box was sealed so how can it be stolen that was there argument.

Don't let Orange simply get away with this even if they unblock the phone.
I'd send them a letter before action giving them, say, 7 days to unblock and to pay compensation for their idiotic actions, then submit a claim to the small claims court for the cost of a new phone plus compensation.

Well Said Grumbler, they shouldn't have blocked the phone first of all,but if its not a mistake of orange then definitely carphonewarehouse are at fault too.
  • Absolutely grumbler couldnt agree more both companies are gonna be held accountable for there actions and for the distress they have put me through.

Orange haven't done anything wrong. I'm sure if it was your phone that was stolen, and you reported it as such, you would be very unhappy with your supplier if they didn't block the phone. I'm sure you would be even more upset if the person who stole it called to complain, say it was theirs, and your supplier unblocked it, allowing them to use it.

Orange are protecting their customer, just as I hope my supplier would do.

Do a checkmend report first as mentioned previously to see if it is indeed blocked and whether that block is current or an old one and take it from there. Use your old phone or other phone in the mean time so you have a service at least. Mobiles can be picked up for a few pounds.

Once you have the checkmend report you will have some evidence of what is going on and a more informed decision could be made as to who needs to help you get a resolution.
