50% Sky TV offer

Options
I've just tried to cancel Sky TV in my wife's name as I'd like to take up the 50% offer in my name instead. However, I have been informed that this is fraudulent activity by the Sky TV customer services rep. I can't see the problem if my wife's 12 months subscription period has ended? Can someone please explain further?

The household is the receiver of the service, regardless of whose name the contract is in, and it is the household that must be a new customer; this not being possible until 12 months have elapsed since cease.

Ask them if they have the 60% off and £100 credit for returning customers, its what I got in sept.

The OP is concerned about fraudulent setting up of an account and not the size of the offer.

I wouldnt bother. Sky are a lying bunch of Sh*ts. I took up a 1 month free trail of sky movies (from the offers bit at the bottom of the 'my account' page). Turns out there is no 'free' period at all. They just billed me from the date i took the 'free' trial until the middle of next month. Going to cancel the whole package in the morning. I wont deal with companies that are that dishonest and deliberately set out to scam customers.

Thats not strictly true, if you move out of your house and cancel your Sky, that means the next guy who moves in who has never had Sky in his life isnt a new customer?

Household means people in the house and not the building, so there should be no problem for new residents therein.

Be careful of what you accuse people/companies of, as this is an open forum.

If you take up an offer, while another is in place, the T&Cs mean that you could lose the original offer, as they state that only one offer can be current. Could the billing be full price claw back for another offer you had, such as free broadband ?

Otherwise, some offers are billed as zero by charging then giving an equivalent credit, meaning an effective zero charge.

Quite happy to accuse them as i have screenshots etc. If they want to go to court over it i would be more than happy.

No, its nothing to do with anything else taken out. I only took up the 'free' trial 2 weeks ago and nothing since. The offer said 1 month free sky movies then 50% for the next 2 months. This was 2 weeks ago. I received a notification email yesterday saying the bill was £16 more that it should be. After contacting Sky they say its because i took Sky movies. I clicked an offer, i have screenshots showing the offer and my charges but they just dont care and say its the full package.

So you see everything i accuse them of is true.

Actually, it just sounds like you clicked and agreed to Sky Movies without any offer being applied. I'm sure the offer is only available to customers who have never had Sky Movies before. Does this preclude you from the offer?
I'm not sure what use "screenshots" are and I'm certain Sky won't be taking any legal action against a solitary anonymous user of an internet forum who posts splenetically about planning to leave Sky.
