On the plus side, think of all of those speeding fines, inland revenue payments / demands and junk mail which wont be landing on doorsteps this morning!.
Businesses wont stop work just because of the royal mail, there are alternatives out there and they WILL find them. The question is, will they return to the Royal Mail when the strikes end?. Lots of private companies are already doing very well out this, as highlighted by the press:-

At a time when emails are fast replacing letters, and BACS, Direct Debits and even Paypal payments are replacing old fashioned cheques, I agree that this is ill timed, but more so for the industry which employs them.
